Sometimes all it takes is a change of voice

Postby TerracingTomas » Sun Jan 17, 2021 2:57 pm

“Sometimes all it takes is a change of voice” said Stephen Craigan commentating on the Rangers v Well game and Wells’ change of manager. Hard to disagree.

Look at Livingstone since Holt went, look at Ross County yesterday, look at Motherwell today. We are now bottom and it’s hard to see that changing. Of course Rice can point to the injury list but given his game management and set ups it’s difficult to see an Accies team getting these kind of results. Too late now imo but heh what do I know I don’t have belief.

Livingston are putting us to shame. And now Motherwell draw with Rangers. How the hell did they lose 3-0 to us?

I should add, at least we have won the big games recently, against Ross County and Well plus a good point at Perth where we usually lose. We need to pull off another couple of big wins, like away to St Mirren. They're not out of it but I've been impressed with their signings. There's no really awful team this season. As poor as we are, if we can get Scott Martin back (anyone know?) we could still scrape together enough points to get to eleventh.

I have been a critic of Rice and his selections but a new Manager still won't get this team scoring goals.

Olowabi(never really had a chance),Callum Smith(not good enough for this level),Moyo and Andy Winter = one goal combined.

Add in Templeton(constantly injured) and Ogympoe who is either injured or not interested and there is the proof we need TWO strikers in urgently.

Add these two strikers and a creative midfielder and even Rice will get us out of this as we are solid in the main defensively at the moment.

Unfortunately,we hear more about McGowan moaning about Charities than our core business- a football club.

It is up to the Board to provide these players. In the past,we have pulled signings in January out of the hat which have radically altered our fortunes.

This transfer window is the most crucial for us in many years and the clock is ticking.

With virtually no money coming in, and increased costs due to Covid, dont hold your breathe for anyone coming in, or indeed Rice going out the door.

Seaside leagues here we come and I believe Rice is out of contract in summer

Going down will cost us far more financially than a short term transfer fix to stay up.

Early in the season Rice is on record as saying that given circumstances he wasn’t expecting signings in January. Then came the injuries and all of a sudden we signed Martin and Thomas at the beginning of November. With Accies you never know what the reality is. I’m inclined to think Martin and Thomas have used up a fair bit of what might have been in the kitty for this window so I’m not holding my breath for impact signings. Or any kind of signing.

I see an online 50/50 draw has been launched. Like the matchday one, all proceeds will go to the Community Trust so the first team won't benefit one jot. I'd buy a few it it went on financing the playing side of the club and not all their little pet projects, no matter how worthy they might be.

“I see an online 50/50 draw has been launched.”

I saw the tweet. Never bought a 50/50 at the ground although it was my understanding that the proceeds then went to the youth academy as it was the young players who were selling the tickets. To be honest I have no idea what happens to the money if it goes to the community trust. In the past events such as the fireworks display saw proceeds getting split between the Trust and Blameless. So like you I won’t be participating. I would have bought a season ticket accepting little chance of seeing games as Im fairly sure that money goes to the club and the first team.
