Greetings to all, I hope you are fine, I wanted to ask you about Graham Mitchell, This player stood out in Hamilton playing as a central defender, do you remember if he also occupied the Left Back?

Jimmy Sinclair was a right back I thin , Mitchell usually played No.6 if I remember right.

He wasn't all that thin  Just one of most of the great Championship winning team that Lambie immediately got rid of on the basis that they would not be good enough for Premiership football, without giving many of them a real chance.

Went on to QotS then the Bino's, coached at some clubs through the SFA, and was Asst Mngr at Villa in 2016.

Mitchell, I remember as a classy left footer, who was sold to Hibs, and was a regular there for 10/11 years, & winning the League Cup too. He might have played left-back with Accies but more often as a central defender.

Jimmy Sinclair had a great season at right back when we won the First Division for the first time in 85/86. He wasn't given a chance by Lambie in the Premier, though to be fair his replacement was one of his few good signings that summer - Kevin McKee.

I didn't know Jimmy was assistant at Aston Villa. I know he was involved at Rangers for some years.

Graham Mitchell did indeed play left back on occasion. I think he was in that position when he hit a 35 yard screamer at home to Morton. But the bulk of his appearances were left central defence. Another hero from 85/86.

Classy defender who used to regularly come back and watch us when he went to Easter Road. Also Mo Johnston's best pal which may have cost him grief at times lol.

Possibly due to him preferring to play a SIMPLE (Simon) pass during a game???
