Accies Squad 20/21

Postby TerracingTomas » Tue May 26, 2020 5:56 pm

Link to Record story re next seasons’ squad. 29 players retained and no one else likely to come in unless there is money from somewhere. Daz released (not a surprise) but no Gocic, Oakley, Mcgowan or Miller all appeared to have rejected contract offers. Makeof that what u will.

Obviously it would have been good to have kept the 4 who appear to be moving on however I do think that the squad is pretty good.

There is no way that we can make daft offers with our fan base and the current uncertainties regarding next season.

We have once again stayed in the league and that should be celebrated. Players move on and are replaced at Accies. I see that even Walter Smith is telling Rangers to move on and think about next season now and that's how it needs to be for Accies. Hopefully one or two of the 4 reconsider however I'm assuming that is done and dusted now.

I believe we are voting for reconstruction but only if it is permanent and not just something to save Hearts. I think that is the right course of action. There is no extrapolation of form, equation relating to points or any other formula where Hearts do not finish bottom and that is the way it has to be.

I'm sure it will depend what other offers that come along.

However, I'm not sure this is the best time to be looking for a new job.

Let's hope nothing better comes along for them!

A bit of an imbalance in defence at the moment with six central defenders, one left back and no right back!

Definitely need some more experienced midfielders as very light in that department and will need to get a right back in to replace AJ.

Brian Easton out until October following ankle surgery. I wonder if we will actually see him back in any meaningful way.

Plus a double signing announced in the shape of 2 experienced scottish midfielders Ross Callachan ex St johnstone and Charlie trafford ex inverness. more to come this week.

Experienced wow.

I pride myself in lower league players and where they’ve been etc but I honestly have never heard of those 2.

I’m sure the club have had them watched numerous times

Experienced as in
having gained knowledge or skill in a particular field over time.

So I'm happy with my adjective to describe these 2 signings. Does that make them good signings? No idea but its the type we usually make so I will wait and see. Oh and Callachan is coming from St johnstone not currently the lower leagues.

Not sure they've fully grasped who he's signed for!

"meaning that in a matter of weeks he could be running out at Celtic Park or Ibrox in front of more 50,000 fans, and playing in European competition."

Sounds like we have high ambitions to finish in the European Qualifying places 2020/21 season :D

Just hope, now with three recognised forwards, we have our midfield and defence well covered by quality personnel, after loosing good players.

That’s another of the trialists signed Hakeem Odoffin “until at least 2021” whatever that means. Will he solve our right back position?
