Lewis Ferguson

What a player this boy looks! I can't remember the last time a teenager came into the team, needed no settling-in period, and immediately looked assured and confident. He plays like he's been in the team for years, rather than weeks. And he's only 18.

Looks for the ball, keeps possession when he has it, isn't intimidated by dirty play, breaks forward at will, beats opponents and has been involved in setting up goals. An authoritative presence, clearly credited by his team-mates, and can only get better. Imagine the boost he'll get when he scores his first goal?

What I find amazing is that he hadn't had so much as a substitute's appearance before Greg Docherty left. Had there really been no opportunity to give him a taste of the first team? Not that it seems to have affected him - he's stepped up immediately when called upon. I know it's only a handful of games, and we shouldn't get carried away, but no wonder we were so sanguine about letting Docherty go. At this rate, how much will Ferguson be worth once he has 100 games under his belt?

Excellent player, I’m not missing Greg at all with Lewis in the team.
Likewise I cannot believe we didn’t play him until Greg left.
Reminds me of McCarthy at the same age, possibly better.

Compare him to what Greg was like at this age...

Probably best for Lewis if he can remain under the radar in this respect.

I've suggested to his dad when he is at Accies commenting for BBC to include his boy in the reports when he has had another excellent game. Still waiting, Derek!!

Only 18.5 years old, Lewis is another gem we have introduced onto the 'big stage'. Just hope we have him on a long contract!

Looks a brilliant prospect. Not phased at all by seasoned professionals.
Played Docherty out the game the last time we played Rangers.

Obviously great to see him in the Scotland U19 set up but looking like the fixtures may well clash with a couple of games for us :(

He's become a key player for us since Docherty moved on just hope he can play in our key games.

Yeah noticed that he’ll miss 3 of our important away games but will be back post split.
Shows the impact he’s made that we’re worrying about an 18 year old who’s just broken into the team missing some games.
