Donati Freed

Massimo Donati has been asked to retire as a player and is now working in the youth academy in order to free up a wage.

I don't like to use the word epidemic..But this is getting crazy. We are losing our skeleton crew.

I think you may have mis-read btw. Donati has been freed COMPLETELY from the club, he is not part of our youth academy. The club says they are happy he got his START in coaching at our club, or am I misinterpreting ?

It's all very confusing. The Accies site statement reads as if he is gone, however other media outlets have taken it as he is going into full time coaching.

BBC website shows clearly that he has left the Club for pastures new.

After some twitter digging, one of Donati's friends/family have said Donati has accepted the leaving of Hamilton to free up "money" and that he has not retired as a footballer. This looks grim, maybe we really are struggling financially if we are cutting all these contracts so quickly.

No doubt in my mind.

Since the fraud came to light, we've released Longridge, Gillespie and Donati, and sold Docherty and Devlin, with Crawford rumoured to be going too. That's half a team.

The Board have played down the impact of the loss, by saying as little as possible about it, but a club of our size can't take that kind of hit without having to make significant economies.

Massimo' twitter - Translated

"Thanks to everyone for the messages but for now I have only terminated the contract with Hamilton for economic problems of the company ... everything else is not true"

What a great advertisement during a transfer window, come to Accies, where we actively cut short contracts due to our lack of funding.

Does that mean he isn’t becoming a coach?

He might become a coach - but the rhetoric from the club (limited and confusing as it is) suggests that he is gone from Accies completely

This is what he said:

Today I watched a football team. organised, all the players know what they had to do on the field, with desire to win… obviously won.

It's possible this was meant as a dig at Accies.

Donati was pathetic for us. Easy to criticise when sitting in stand. His opinion matters not one jot.

Donati was a worse signing than Roy or sumsky or any other dud we signed that everyone moans about.
