Accies v ICT

Postby redandwhite1874 » Sun Jan 29, 2017 3:07 pm

Huge relegation dog fight fixture which will have a massive impact on our season.

Our issues are well documented, if frequently over egged, but they have been poor as well. Suspensions over and at home we need to press them and take our chances when they come. I was surprised our new guy did not get any game time in preparation for this one and probably unlikely any potential other new people will feature.

3 nil Accies :?

Biggest game in a while. It'd be typical of us to win this and get a bit of positivity before the forum (not that it'd change anything).
Really don't know what to do with the tactics anymore. 5-3-2 is useless if the two strikers are as bad as ours, the defenders are as bad, and the ball's always in the air. We don't have good enough wingers to play a 4-5-1, and the wingers/strikers problem are both apparent for a 4-4-2.

451 is not, for me, all about wingers it's about numbers in the middle and the chance to dominate possession and free up space for Crawford to float into without leaving a gap at the back. It's also the most conventional set up defensively for new guys or youngsters:

Woods
Gills Devlin Sarris Adams
Donati
Redmond Ali Daz Imrie
DAcol

If Accies start taking their chances they will win this match. ICT are poor, we should be taking care of them at NDP......

Devlin and Donati to come back in.

Hopefully, Adams can get a start and we can see what he has.....

Are we going to get a striker? Or, shall we just all hope that Ali (stays) starts scoring again!!

2-0 Accies

I was going to suggest Louis, but he also is a left footer, not to the extent of one foot dougie, however. I thought Mcmann could do a job at LB.

Billy McKay back at Inverness on loan and will no doubt play tonight. Could we not try to get Morris back from Norwich, he's not getting any game time?

I thought he was pretty rotten to be fair, loved to dive as well.

Our record vs Inverness at home is abysmal. last 7 = 6 losses and 1 draw.

He got five crucial goals from about this point that kept us free of bottom two.

Edit: He's just joined Rotherham on loan.

Accies - 34 Woods 4 Devlin (c) 6 Gillespie 7 Imrie 9 D'Acol 10 Redmond 11 Crawford 15 Bingham 18 MacKinnon 21 Donati 23 McMann

Oh well, I suppose if there's any team we can play 2 up front against its ICT at home.

Imrie undroppable it would seem. Adams on the bench again.

Right decision. If injuries hadn't kicked in we could have dropped Dougie but no available cover for me. Likewise Redmond not good enough but injuries prevent dropping him.

What a win against a terrible team. I just wish redandwhite1874 would be more positive; the two up top worked a treat ;)

Great result tonight and perhaps a wee wake up call for the doom mongers that although we have issues, the clubs around us also have challenges.

Doom mongers on twitter have been wetting their knickers all the window and got into a panic tonight over Sammon and McKay. ICT and Killie also lost their top scorers but facts like these get ignored.

Sammon has had one prolific season in his career and has scored a quarter of the goals that's Bingham has this season. McKay is decent (and I would have taken him) but the last few years have not been kind to him and he has no league goals this season. Both being portrayed as guaranteed goals when the truth is a bit more complex than that.

ICT are murder, they go long and kick everything. We out played their U20s a few weeks ago so they don't have many options in the background.

We are competitive in our attempt to stay in this league and no amount of carefully chosen stats will alter that; you either back our efforts to do that and stay in the top flight for the first time since the 1930s, or you have another agenda.

Daz was great again and Adams look composed even on the wrong side and that opens up the option for Gills to go into the middle and become a goal machine

PS a defeat tonight would not have meant relegation (although I am sure a load of 'fans' would not have been having that) and a win doesn't conclude anything either.

I am one of the doom mungers but praise where its due, Must be our biggest win in quite some time. Is this only papering over the cracks though. Our squad is pretty thin and if we get hit by injuries, like Crawford tonight and suspensions, we will still struggle

Now for the big one on Saturday, heres hoping its gonna be a few steps forward. When was the last time we won 2 games in a row?

Brilliant result and a nice boost to the GD too. Great to see strikers scoring. Slightly concerned about extent of Crawford's injury, with Docherty still out. Wasn't there due to family commitments but how bad did it look?

Match on ALBA Thursday night 11pm.
