Hamilton Accies v Kilmarnock Match Thread

One less thing to worry about, Josh Magennis sold to Charlton.

Bit early to say this is a must win, but a 4 point gap at this stage would be nice. Our first four home games are Killie, Ross County, St Johnstone and Inverness. All winnable. The players should be out to make amends for the Morton horror show. Will Brophy be back? How long is D'Acol out for? Kurtaj? No answers in the Advertiser. Ah well, we're only the fans after all.

If Killie still have that giant centre back, it's gonna be a long day for imrie/longridge with the poor lofted balls towards them.

Hard one to call: two very inconsistent teams.

Last time Killie were the visitors they gubbed us, but then last time Morton were the visitors we gubbed them.

I don't think we know our best XI yet, which is a problem even with everyone fit. Who starts in the full back positions? Will they give us width? Imrie aside, who starts wide in midfield? If Longridge starts, that's where I'd prefer to see him; Donati holding, Crawford in a central role, Docherty proving industry, Mackinnon nowhere near the first team. And we badly need a genuine striker leading the line.

With everyone playing their best, and a disciplined and committed performance, we're capable of winning, and winning well. But will all that come together? After Tuesday night, we can only hope so.

I expect us to win after Tuesday's rubbish...given that we usually play well after being rotten and vice versa.

Massive game that even this early will have a massive bearing at the season's end. We have left ourselves short up front but need the players who are on the park to lift themselves after Tuesday.

Shite :(

We REALLY need to start using width, I miss the days when you'd see a player overlapping down a wing. The hoof approach isn't gonna work against that fucking tank.

Is the 'hoof approach' stuff a cliché for poor football or results; or a genuine opinion on MCs tactics. I would have thought we do hit it long during games buts it's hardly our default position?

The past 2 games I've seen, we've quickly ran out of ideas and resorted to trying to ping balls 40-50 yards with poor success. Against Morton I could count on the one hand how many succesful attacks we had playing the ball along the ground. Don't get me wrong, some of the one touch passing we display is marvelous, however those are so few and far between it's barely worth remembering.

Against Morton, Canning was stationary despite the likes of Devlin/Sarris punting the ball to nowhere. The diference with Morton compared to use was how quickly they moved the ball around, our guys are taking 5-7 touches before unleashing a pass, they were two touch and hard to keep up with.

Will we start with same team again apart from Boyd ? Maybe if a few players feared more for there place they will perform better

Just Resign Martin , give the support some hope and go , subs should have been made before there goals , Lyon is no where near a top flight player , another home defeat but yet our manager will hide behind excuses as usual , first home league game and already sick of it .

Unlucky today, Killie never really in it until they scored..........and scored again. We should have taken our chances with Roy and Docherty in particular lacking any kind of composure in the box. The ref should have had them down to 10 men when we were 1 nil up.

Lyon was very busy today; making sure he seen as much of the ball as possible and avoiding any kind of physical battle. Out of position yes but Gills is an example of how a bit of effort and bottle can see you put in a decent performance when out of position. Longridge got his goal but spent the entire afternoon giving possession away thereafter.

Hopefully we start to get other players fit and we need cover at the back - cover by way of a 'player' not some who last played god knows when.

A game where we could have been 4 or 5 up turns into another home disaster.

No decent striker, midfielders as full backs and what was the most worrying thing a lack of fighting spirit again after conceding an equaliser.

Nothing from the dugout either to inspire the players against what should have been this season's whipping boys.

As for the latest signing, the guy didn't have a clue what to do when one on one with the Keeper.

The problems are easily rectified.Sort it now,not six months into the season.

It will not be sorted , Canning is not judged on results and he knows if he left no other club would touch him so we are stuck with him .

Good analysis. That's how I saw the game too. Gutted we took nothing from it, and only our profligacy in front of goal to blame. We should have been out of sight before they finally got an equaliser with their first real chance of the second half. Overall we were by far the better team, and desperately unlucky to lose.

Our two best chances came near the end. Anyone but Roy, who was just on the park, would have scored, and even he should have too. Then on another day, Crawford's free kick doesn't strike woodwork, but scores.

Sore one. How did we come away from that with nothing?

Getting beaten by Jossy's Giants does not bode well.

Results like keeping us in the top flight? Not many Accies managers have managed that?
