Accies V Dundee United - Match Thread

Postby Admin » Wed Apr 08, 2015 11:11 pm

Battle between two teams in free fall, fighting for a top 6 place. A win for us would be huge here, can we somehow manage it?

Yes, we can.....

........we can still do this top 6 thing!!

If we win and St J don't, we are in top 6 :D

Hopefully, some pride and passion with a sprinkling of skill on Saturday.....2-1 Accies!!

This run has to stop some time, doesn't it??

Well said. Can we win this match and therefore, barring really rotten luck, make the top 6? Yes we can. Attacking line up please because that "attack" from Saturday just won't cut it.

McGovern, Gordon, McDonald, Devlin, Tena, Gillespie, Crawford, Mackinnon (grudgingly), Imrie, Nigel and Scotland.

Huge game this.

Win and, barring a Dundee win v Celtic, we will be into the top 6 and back into the (likely) mix for Europe.

Not win and we are in a dogfight to avoid relegation (Im not going to sugarcoat it by saying "the playoffs" as Rangers or Hibs would hump us).

United haven’t won in 10 games if you include their cup ties while we haven’t won in 12. Something got to give? Probably not another draw then? Daz is out thank goodness and Imrie I assume back in. Perhaps the combination of him and a slowly regaining match fitness Hasselbank can do something. I will drag my weary bones upto Dundee for this one with absolutely no expectations.

Think Daz is free to play. I mentioned the BBM on Saturday said his booking put him out but there is nothing on the OS to say so. I'd give him one more chance as otherwise it is Lyon who is not really ready for this yet.

This game's got draw written all over it, which won't be enough for us. Yes, there are scenarios where we can still scrape top six - if we win, which is the biggest if in those scenarios. But Dundee could have a huge advantage in going into their last game before the split knowing exactly what they need to do. That can't be fair, can it?

As regards our line-up, I'd go with Whiskeytown's choice, except I wouldn't pick McKinnon, who's a liability.

It's extremely unlikely that we will win on Saturday. However it's also extremely unlikely that we will drop into the play-off place. From memory, 7th and 11th were only separated by 2 or 3 points at the beginning of the split last season. There's likely to be an 11 or 12 point spread this season and, with the bottom 6 only playing against each other, then an 11th place finish appears to be almost impossible. I'm sure someone will prove otherwise....

Irrespective of what happens on Saturday the second half of the season has been a major disappointment and a missed opportunity. There's not an Accies fan that's happy right now.

Goal against the run of play after we hit the post for a second time!

A game we had to win and yet we took off one striker for another (and one who can hardly move); thereby eliminating the option of 2 strikers. Nigel might not be fully fit but why not after 2.5 months and if he was so off why did we sign him - particularly when we had a rapidly aging Scotland as out other option?
