Accies .v.St Johnstone - Match Thread

Postby Bann Joe Strinnge » Tue Mar 31, 2015 10:22 pm

In response to popular demand, and to demonstrate there is no apathy in this poster, here is the first post in advance of the weekend's match.

Accies 15/8 at William hill? Will the odds shorten as the weekend approaches....??

This match is critical. If a win is not achieved, it will be a season wasted - despite retaining top flight status!

First thing..........Scotland must be dropped; a total imposter now at this level. He brings nothing.

Get Gills back to the holding role rather than wasting him pushed further forward. Redmond might keep his place due to suspension and we live in hope that he might be capable of more than 50 mins of intermittent acceptability - fitness or lack of interest not sure which is his biggest problem.

Sumsky to start?

One can live in hope that miracles do happen and we get our first win under martin but this has home defeat written all over it. Brophy did what he is used to with the Scotland under 19’s and made brief substitute appearances so he should be match fit for this one. If we don’t drop Jason at least try playing Brophy alongside him from the start. Agree re gillespie playing in front of the defence. Who is this guy Sumsky they all talk about ;) Lowest league gate of the season for this one? Hope not.

This is it.......drinking in the last chance saloon for top 6!

Win, and I think we may just sneak into top 6.

Brophy to start, Gills to CDM, Sumsky and Tagliapetra to play some part.....

.....still, I forsee a narrow 2-1 loss.......hope for a 2-1 win :D

I think fans are deluded If they think top 6 is still achievable.

Aside from Gills to the holding role I think you're going to be disappointed. Brophy will play 90 minutes for the U20s tomorrow after a week away with Scotland (interestingly needing a goal to qualify Brophy got 3 minutes - it's not just MC) and will be on the bench at best. Sumsky won't even be on the bench and Tagliapetra I think is still injured.

Look to the last U20s team for clues to who will play against St Johnstone - McKinnon and Hasselbaink both needed game time, both played and both had their case strengthened by an 8-1 win - both will start. Longridge played too and scored twice so don't be surprised if he gets a rare start as well.

They are on a decent run and with the exception of an average display against Ross County we've been beyond bad. Logic dictates a defeat but don't ask me why but I've got an irrational feeling that Accies will win - yes I'm probably deluded!

accies will score 5 so we should be able to get a draw, probably the last match of the season who would want to go and watch us in the bottom six after the first half of the season we had its been total freefall since neil left.

H9 has kind of stolen my thunder a bit as I fancy 3-0 as well but as I'm the man in form(4-0)Mothersmell anyone? I'm sure everyone will know I'm not jumping on H9s bandwagon.
How does that grab you happyclappers?
Oh and as for Les shades of Grays revelation that he's behind Martin Canning does that REALLY surprise anybody.
0/12 pending.

Yummy Fur correct re Under 20's tonight. Brophy played 90 minutes so presumably on the bench if that on Saturday.

The way we've been playing recently can't really see us getting anything out of this game.
If that's the case, then top 6 will be gone.

You are spot on. It is pish, and from what les has said, will last through the summer, so no new manager. Season ticket or a contribution to a new set of golf clubs...?

You know they often say that a sign of madness in a person - is to keep doing the same thing and to somehow expect a different result......

That's Accies at the moment.

I really should lower my expecations more but going for a 0-0 or low scoring draw as this would suit ST J.

Dont you know? There's loads of guys out there desperate to plough their cash in to a team with a core support of 1500.

I wonder if the Luton forum has as many total zoomers on it. Sitting in the play offs not far off automatic, then seven defeats in a row. Yesterday they were 2-0 up and still lost in the 95th minute. Bad runs happen. Luton didn't lose their manager and two key players though. Seems many on here almost take delight at our current plight and don't even go to the games now. We are a tiny club in terms of this league. I well remember going to Firhill in the years when we were just clinging on to an existence. Time folk got real and if you can get to the games, do so and back the team to the hilt.

I agreed with the appointment of canning, but its obvious he is not management material and the quicker he steps down the better for all, but theses sack the board comments are just weans throwing there toys out the pram.
