Definitely
The under 20's came 2nd in the development league so deserve the chance to prove themselves.

There seem to be few players at all clubs that seem to be able to make the step up. Even at international level Scotland U20, 19 and 17 teams to do well, but few seem able to become regular first team players.

The problem Canning and all managers have is that they are judge pretty quickly on results. They no longer have the backing of fans and chairmen who demand success. If results are poor they are not given time, ie a few seasons to turn things around, (having said that Canning seems to be the exception)

Most managers will continue to play tried and tested players who have been over the course

We have brought through a few players in recent years but not that many considering the time money and effort we put into our youth team. Again that applies to all clubs

Think the most you will see at any 1 time is perhaps 1 maybe 2 in the team

Alan Hansen famously said you'll win nothing with kids.
Who cares what he thinks.
Winning for Accies is all about producing quality kids and selling them on for good money whilst trying to keep a good experienced spine of the team to bring the kids on.
That's where I think Accies let themselves down a bit.
Should be bringing in better quality experienced pros to complement the promising youth in the system.IMO.

Agree with 1874 - our squad should be a few seasoned pros, but mainly youngsters coming through. I would rather we trialled some of the guys from the U20s than go panning for gold with some of the duds we seem to get in. Yes we do occasionally find a hidden gem (Gogic, Skondras etc) but personally I would rather see us promoting promising Scottish talent.
