Would Mark Wilson be a viable option.

Hes only 32, hes got experience in the league. Got to be a better option than Gillespie.

Played for Dumbarton at the end of last season, so probably would not break the bank!

He's retired. Read an article on him recently, he's in no fit state for top level football anymore, injuries have taken their toll.

Good news on Harkins, our midfield was so poor yesterday.

A 6 month deal suggests the club don't know much about his abilities. It's just a punt. The Jason Scotland connection makes me think it's all just a favour to make him a few quid while he moves here. I hope I'm wrong.

The guy deserves his chance but how fit or match fit is he and how long since he last played etc.

The 6 month deal means it's fair to be sceptical but hopeful.

I would rather the club went down this road with unproven foreigners. It better offering them short term deals to prove themselves rather than being stuck with a dud on a longer contract or paying them more compo to release them from longer deals.

Yes. The other side of that is if he comes in and does great he can go elsewhere for nothing in January. I would rather we got players we had faith in rather than a short deal for someone we have seen train for weeks and who took ages to actually sign,

Nephews etc. of great players are not necessarily themselves great players. e'g Nigel Hasselbaink.
This six months contract seems imminently sensible. No reason why we could not extend contract in six months with an increased offer, should the player have proved himself at that stage. Worst scenario is that he is a prolific goalscorer, we have three points every game, and are so far ahead come six months, that we are again 'challenging' for a European Spot :D :D

I maybe never worded that post very well. What I meant to say was that I don't want the club to go for unproven foreigners, but if they are going to take a punt on one, offer him a short term deal until he proven that he's good enough to play for the shirt. Like everyone else, I'd much rather we went for players with a proven track record at this level.

We have signed a 18 year old player from jamtarts on lone

Now how many midfielders did we play on Tuesday? Was it 7?

How many strikers did we play was it O?

Yes the 5ft something player form jamtarts is a Midfeilder just what we need! Not quite Garry Harkins!

A typically bizarre signing by Accies.

Not exactly exciting but can't see much bizarre about it?

Bizarre in the sense that neither the first team nor U 20s are crying out for a midfielder.

I'd say we are crying out for a replacement for the liability Mackinnon.

Harkins signs for Ayr.

Were we even close to signing him?

He should have been away in our timing and cos he is not good enough; not in these circumstances when we have no full backs and have a striker even MC has no faith in.

WTF no way he is getting more £££ with them! This is another joke from a joke club! He is type of player we need not 18 year old midjet midfielders!

Typically well thought through and measured post.

Harkins might turn out to be a great signing for Ayr but do you think that there might be something in no Premiership or top half Championship club being interested. Do you think that Dundee were keen to get rid for a reason? A player with undoubted talent but a player who looked unfit and overweight anytime we played Dundee last season.

Midjet midfielder - really?
