My point in backing up the post is that maybe he felt that he wouldn't (continue to)progress as a footballer by working with a coach he had worked with before ....He possibly felt he would learn something different / new with UTD ...

Looks like we were too quick off the mark in signing 2 extra keepers, not clear why we need 4 strikers when we only play 1 up; meanwhile we perhaps have only 1 actual fit full back at the club. Lyon and Gills are doing as well as can be expected but we ended up playing a back 5 today with only 1 first team defender and a young player making his debut when he is not really ready for it. The Andreu bid shows there is money, the club always says you can sign free agents anytime, so why no replacement for Ziggy and Kurakins - although to be fair Gills is a better LB that he was; but Lyon never looks comfortable even when asked to do something going forward.

Looks like we only signed Robbie Thomson from QoS as Darren Jamieson was playing for Bo'ness United this afternoon. A bit bizarre as although it was never announced on Twitter or the Official site and he wasn't given a squad number Canning seems to have made reference to his signing in interviews only a day or 2 ago.

Yeah and ? doesn't get a game at 20s in that position so don't see him playing first team there Lyon and gills will share that spot I feel until it's time for the lad Reilly to step in

Looks like an experienced full back playing as a trialist tonight so hopefully a bit of good news soon.

Canning in the papers today saying the guy is not being offered a contract. No point in bringing in numbers just for the sake of it he says. He has tried to sign a few backs but these have all fell through.

Never mind says Canning “I’d rather Scott McMann goes and plays there, or Ronan Hughes, who can play there. Jack Breslin, Darren Lyon or Grant Gillespie can play there.

So thats OK then

Although he clearly wasn't the answer, were we too hasty in letting Kurakins go? He'd just been part of a defence that did very well at Ibrox and when played as part of a back five last season his performances improved. He was abysmal against Morton but then so was Devlin, Sarris and most of the team. To get rid of him and have Gillespie taken out of his position to fill the gap is madness. Either sign a replacement before you let him go or keep him and muddle on. McMann might come in if he can stay injury free but he's very inexperienced and will get the stick Kurakins got if he has a couple of poor games. It all looks a bit of a shambles and I really fear we will go down now.
