Season 2015/16 - Mission Accomplished

Postby redandwhite1874 » Sat May 07, 2016 5:01 pm

Great day for Accies and all Accies fans - a great achievement to retain top flight status for only the fourth time since the 1930s.

Hope everyone enjoys their night.

Mission accomplished indeed. We've been awful at times, but well done Canning & co. We've managed to get results when we've needed to. I still wouldn't want him to stay. He's done his job, though.

Well, we ARE simply good enough for the Premier League, despite my earlier doubts. Fortunate that both Kilmarnock and Dundee United were poorer than us on more occassions, but it says a lot that the Management and team could produce this purple patch over the last four games. We are equal first with St Johnstone in securing three wins out of four. Pressure should be off, ICT looked shaky last night on TV, and there's no reason why why cannot go for another six points in the last two games. We could even finish seventh! Here's the difference in league position pay-out.

7 £1,213,250
8 £1,160,500
9 £1,107,750
10 £1,055,000

Regardless of the media having us down as 'inevitable' relegation favourites for next season. let's enjoy the exposure along with those whose "rightful place" has been denied by so-called 'diddy teams'.

Can I ask why despite us never being in any of the relegation places, that you thought we were out of place (not maybe or struggling or fighting but absolutely out of place)? and further then carried on that any survival this season would be almost pointless ?

Come on, redandwhite1874, we've secured our survival and you're just casting up old threads. Cheer up and enjoy your night; leave the smugness out of it.

Yes , its just not cricket to point out the crap/lies that people have talked all season (and beyond) is it. We should just let them bring up 'we told you so' repeatedly 9and over many threads) when the team fails and they call people 'happy clapper' etc; but we should just forgive and forget when their nonsense agendas are brought into the light for all to see.

I can cheer up, enjoy my night AND remind of their crap - its a buffet; not a pick one item option.

PS Like many I thought Martin wouldn't do it and should go; but that didn't blind me to the fact that he always could do it or to take me to the point of wanting him not to do it - a point many on here crossed long, long ago :D

Their comments (which we all knew were hyperbolic and tedious) really shouldn't bother you that much. Happy thoughts.

Happy thoughts indeed. We will have been in the top flight for 6 out of the last 9 season (and one of them was a successful championship campaign) - as Tatty pointed out on Twitter. :D

Happy thoughts indeed. United and Killie will have spent fortunes and shown 'ambition' and changed to experienced managers all to finish below us - Happy thoughts indeed :D

Killie have perhaps lost even more than the £0.75M they lost to May 2015 - Happy thoughts indeed when we think back to the maniacs who thought it was a bad thing when the BoD pointed out that relegation would not be a disaster for us.

Happy thoughts ? we managed to stay in this league alongside our great charity/community work; work that was outrageously criticised on here when we got bad results; missing the point that they should (and do) co-exist together; its not either/or.

That's more like it ;) One more happy thought - I've given Morris A LOT of stick, but I was saying to someone at the game today that he's really been influential this season (especially since the turn of the year). He's popped up with a few important goals which have kept us in the division. I hope he gets a good send off (as well as McGovern and Ziggy).

Absolutely, he matured across the whole season; I too didn't see that coming and had almost written him off as not up to it.

Mission Accomplished indeed. 7 points clear in 10th which was our target from day 1 (finishing above clubs with the 'ambition' to provide much larger budgets and with the judgement  to change to an experienced manager at the hint of trouble).

Far bigger spending clubs below us and far bigger spending clubs finishing a massive 3 or 5 points above us; the latter club being an apparent benchmark often repeated by critics as thee way ahead only a matter of weeks/months ago.
