Top again tonight?

Postby Willie Wastle » Sat Nov 08, 2014 10:28 am

Motherwell's new-manager-bounce win over Dundee United last night means we can return to the top of the league with a result in Inverness today.

A draw means we could be overtaken by Celtic tomorrow, if they win at Aberdeen, but a win would mean we'd spend at least another week as league leaders.

Heady days. Good luck to all those travelling.

Two weeks, due to international break. We have a happy habit of doing this, so hopefully a good omen.

Should we enter the international break top, only a home game v St. Mirren will stand between us starting December top of the league.

Fairytale stuff.

I think today and recent form means we can think about things other than the top of the table; we are in with the pack of clubs which we would more then have settled for at the start. We are scoring but now leaking goals and we are only a hearbeat away from 4 successive defeats; and only MccGovern away at Aberdeen from having shipped even more than the barrowload we have been recently.

Our overall form means no pressure but a defeat to St M would be a really sore one.

There seems to be a real lack of focus in the defence right now...

Every time I see us concede in the highlights, it seems to be due to one of the following:
- some silly defensive error
- players being slow to react
- our defenders being more interested in raising their arm in the air to appeal for offside than actually dealing with the oppositions attack

Frustrating. Reckon we've rode our luck and got away with a lot of these types of things when we were winning, but that luck has now run out...
