False Economy

Postby YeOldeHamiltonian » Sat Mar 05, 2016 6:51 pm

We are now reaping the benefits of the "false economy" of the BOD.If we had signed a decent striker-forgetting Clueless Canning for a second- we wouldn't be in this position.
Looking at next season,we would have potential home games against Hibs,Hearts,Celtic,Rangers,Motherwell and Aberdeen. Some of these games on the TV and big crowds generating far more income than a decent striker would have.
We go down,we lose our decent players,we play opposition who bring next to no away fans bar potentially Dundee United,Falkirk,Dunfermline and St.Mirren.

More worrying this "experiment" in defensive, guff football has demoralised our fans. All completely avoidable.

It would take a world class striker to score regularly in the current park the bus set up.

Decent goalscorers are hard to come by.

Since our current board took over, we've had the Bee for a season in the third tier, Offiong for a season in the second tier, and more recently a season of Stevie May. Arguably a bit of MAC. That's it.

So I don't think it's a simple as saying the board's trying to save money by not buying a striker.

I do agree that failing to create and convert enough chances could visit us dear. The player we miss most is Tony Andreu. Occasionally Ali Crawford steps up; not often enough. Maybe we need Gillespie back to push Crawford forward. However we do it, we need to score more goals if we're to survive.
