Who would be our best leader on the park?

Postby ColinS » Thu Jan 21, 2016 6:36 pm

Interesting to hear fans thoughts on who in the current squad would make the best leader on the park or who should we bring in to fill that roll? This is no disrespect to McGovern who is a decent chap with loads of experience but I just don't think the goalie can influence the team effectively during a game due to his position on the park.
Any thoughts?

Ziggy Gordon, did he ever lose a game while stand in captain last season?

Ziggy and Dougie are both most likely in my book to fill that roll. Hope to see them stepping up and taking the role on and leading by example at least. On a formal basis it would be great to see Ziggy take it on as it would enhance his overall experience and he deserves the chance.

No one in defence has been doing the shouting and ordering about for a while now. Mikey Devlin seems to have taken over trying to organise things and while I know that he has had a couple of nightmares since coming back after 9 months out I think most people still think he is our best centre half if not indeed our best defender.

Devlin was MOTM today against Hearts. He was also noticeably giving leadership, direction and encouragement to his team mates which was great to see. Its what has been needed so well done MD. A bit more animation from the bench from MC too was also noticeable today.
overall a good result. Need to build on this.

During that Rossi sending off and the handbags that followed the only player that was pulling players away out the road and shouting at his own was ziggy Gordon. Why this guy is not captain I'll never know
