A Serious Question........

Postby Dr Slippy » Sun Mar 22, 2015 1:22 pm

We replace Martin Canning & his coaches, and further dozen or so games down the line at the start of next season we are still not winning, do we change again?

I'm just being devil's advocate not backing MC. The one thing that Ronnie & Les have given the club is stability, & I just can't see them getting into a cycle of dumping managers after a dozen or so bad results. If you look back over their tenure Accies have frequently gone into long unbeaten or losing runs. There seems to be no middle ground in terms of performance.

Is your question assuming that the new management team (ie after Canning) goes through the same run of disastrous results and performances as the present mob do, coupled with their lack of accepting any form or responsibility for their actions?

If we keep making the same fundamental mistake time and time again, then it should be the BoD that's up for the high jump, along with their appointees.
Otherwise the fans will vote with their feet and Accies will be back to playing in front of a few hundred home fans, with the shiny new dome taking shape in the background to keep them company.

Let's hope that their selection policy holds more water than the "spin the bottle" tactic last time out.

Look I'm not asking for much here.
The BoD takes the medium to long term decisions to keep the club fluid financially and appoint a management team with proven experience and drive, that's required for a club of our stature.
They also need to have some ambition outside just bringing youth players through, if they wish the club to stay in the SPL.

Otherwise be honest with the fans and tell us where they actually see Accies level at.
If it's in the Championship, then state that's our level.

Personally, I haven't witnessed anything this year that makes me think the St Mirrens, Motherwells and Partick Thistles of this league are leaps and bounds above us, well not until Canning took charge that is.

since Canning got 5 or 6 games before some decided he should go; I take it the same people would wish the new management team to be recruited with this criteria in mind. So we could get rid of 2 managers before the season is concluded?

And for the hard of thinking:

1) We get rid of Canning
2) We get rid of the next guy as within 5 or 6 games he isn't meeting the criteria that some folk have

And that makes 2 before the season concludes.

Tell you what, let's go for a new manager every single week.
That will keep things interesting.

If some people would actually grow up and stop making stupid point scoring posts.

Honestly, I've got an 8 year old son, that acts far more grown up than some do on here.

Look all name calling aside and my apologies for that, can we all agree that we are in a position that none of us are enjoying.

What do we do about it?

It's a serious point. Is some folk's viewpoint to a potential new manager taking over a club in real difficulties that he has the rest of season and if its not going well he could be out of a job? Or similarly 4 or 5 games into the new season and it could be curtains.

If people can apply that criteria to Canning then its safe to assume they would apply the same to any new guy.

How eloquent, you obviously are hard of thinking if you couldn't understand the post about two managers being sacked.

here is a serious question, is martin canning the worst manager accies have ever had, has anybody else been worse than 3 draws and seven defeats in their first 11 games ?

edited to add colin miller would have been the worst with 17 points from 33 games, so after 11 games his average would be 5.66, canning's is 3, so to me that confirms he is our worst manager ever.

I think an Accies team under Ronnie Simpson went 12/13 games without a win generating the 'Worst team in Britain' headline back in the early 70's

Yep checked Statto.com Between September and November 1971 we LOST 12 games in a row under Ronnie. Our longest run without a win was between November 10 andApril 11 when we went 22 games under Billy.
