You'd be comparing apples with pears that way though. Canning inherited a team in 3rd place after 20 games, 17 points ahead of then 7th placed Dundee. He looks odds on to now miss the top 6, having been all but overhauled by Dundee, after just 11 games (Im not convinced Dundee have played 11 games either). The point being made is that, when Canning took over, we were not in any difficulty at all, yet have taken just 3 points in 11 games.

A new manager coming in now, would be inheriting a team in real difficulty, with expectations being quite different (no wins in 11 would still be unacceptable, however).
