Celtic Women's team playing at NDP

Postby Beckford » Wed Oct 09, 2024 5:57 pm

I'm surprised that this has not been discussed. I don't know the answers to the following and as a disclaimer, I am genuinely not looking to start another negative thread about our club. But, for me there's a few questions raised by this.

1. Given that the stadium acquisition appears to be far from a done deal, who profits from this? I may be overly cynical but is there a reason why the away stand was used as the "celtic end" ?
2. What kind of a message does this send to our own women's team, who the club has had little connection with or given much support to?
3.How does our fanbase feel about this?. Could it be seen as another signal from the board that we don't matter as we are small in number? I have had plenty of patronising messages from celtic fans today who revelled in making this point advising I should "follow a team with a proper support"
3. Are there any plans for the Celtic women's team to have a commercial / promotional base at the stadium? Look at the damage that was done to St Mirrens reputation by having a celtic club shop at their stadium.
4. Has this tenancy been driven by the fact that there are a number of club representatives who have made no attempt to hide that Celtic is their "big team"
5. Given Accies history of having Cuckoo clubs in our stadium, should we be concerned about how this current tenancy could affect us?

I appreciate the urgent need for additional revenue at the club, but I for one would like some reassurance from the board that this is not the latest case of individuals using our club for personal gain.

Genuinely interested on the general supports views on this.

I was on my way to Sainsbury’s last night and there was some noise coming from that end.

However, a lot of it seemed to be sectarian in nature “ up the ra” and other ditties and allied to their well known penchance for flying flags of Middle East terrorist regimes, this is a big no no for many Accies fans I know including those like myself who are from a catholic background.

I am on a few chats with Accies fans- numbering into the hundreds and only one is happy with this.

My worry here is the money goes to McGowan’s Stadium Company and just like Clyde, it is another chip at us in OUR stadium.

My main concern is that if McGowan is profiting from this, it is even more unlikely that we will ever see him removed and the stadium being owned by the club. I have heard a lot of rumours of what's going on in the stadium and it does not sound like the matter will be resolved any time soon. This will definitely be to the detriment of the club.

All the sectarian baggage that comes with the OF is something I am concerned about too. We all know what their "fans" bring and if you get involved with one of them you are automatically seen as having an allegiance with one side or the other. I made the decision to follow Accies to reject the sectarian cancer that infects Scottish football. Now my club is home to one of its causes. As always, I suspect the " but look at the money they bring in" will be used as a reason to ignore the problem.

The Palestinian flag isn't the flag of a terrorist regime. Ridiculously ill informed comment.

Can't speak on behalf of Y.O.H but I was highlighting concerns about the standard Scottish / Irish religious sectarianism.

The other more recent tit for tat whataboutery between the old firm and how they identify with other conflicts is a whole different issue.

Stevie, you follow some of the most virulent anti- semitic bellends on Twitter like that Sarah Wilkinson, so I would sit this one out.

You posted about “the lies” of the baby being beheaded;well I have the video saved of those Hamas beasts ripping the unborn baby out of it’s mother’s stomach and beheading it, so less of the Pallywood.

The day after the anniversary of October 7th also, which makes it worse and plenty folk angry at this in our stadium.

You keep ALL politics out of the ground; left/right, Independence or not as there are Accies fans I know from all sides: Alba,SNP, Liberal Democrat’s, Greens, Tory, Labour, Reform and Homeland Party.

As long as they support the team, is what matters.

Can you post a link to this horrific video YOH because I can't seem to find it anywhere? Still there's another school bombed today, 28 killed while sheltering. But still they've not got enough revenge. By the way, I'm not denying that Hamas carried out any atrocities on 7th October but I think the IDF have long surpassed them. Israel is a terrorist state.

And as usual, Ye was the first one to mention politics then objects when someone else does it.

Just in case this gets removed, because, you know, I'm clearly a big anti-semite, this might be what he is referring to. Long since debunked, this atrocity happened in Mexico in 2017. https://misbar.com/en/factcheck/2023/10 ... nant-woman

It’s not even the same video ya fruitcake I was on about.

If you want to see atrocities,go onto to Hamas Atrocities on Twitter.

You can support Palestine all you want, but you seem to agree with these Gangrene Brigade morons with their paraphernalia of flags.

Only flags that should be in our stadium are Accies flags and not flags pertaining to a Middle East or any other conflict.

I have taken your advice and still don't see it on that thread of atrocities. Do you also believe the 40 beheaded babies lie or the baby put in an oven? There is footage out there of a discussion show on Israeli TV where they are debating why they made up atrocities. As for following a Holocaust denier, I'd never heard of her until recently and agreed with her comments on what's been happening in Gaza. You can follow someone and not agree with everything they say or have said.

This was clarified by the club all money goes to the football club not the stadium company. There's talk of this generating a six figure income.for us. Given the state of out finances I can see why the board have done this.

Thanks for getting us back on topic!

That's reassuring and you would hope that would be the case. As I said, I can understand how additional funding would be hard to turn down for a club in our position.

I think as fans we are justified in having concerns though given our history of being shafted and given the baggage that comes with dealing with the OF. I think it's healthy for us to ask questions and look for transparency given how little engagement there is with the fans. It's not as if we havent been fed lies before!

If it's a short term deal and there are protections in place, I guess we just have to see this as a necessary evil. I certainly wouldn't like to see us develop a long term relationship with one of the old firm. Things like them taking over other clubs grounds and shoehorning B teams into our leagues and cups should be treated with suspicion and can not good for Scottish football in general. It's bad enough that the SFA and Scottish media already think that the other clubs are here to serve them without clubs like ours proving them right.

No place for foreign flags at NDP end of…and the only exception should be the flag of a player playing for us.

Sorry Beckford but I have to respond to his claim about the baby video. There have been many investigations into the claim. This site gives the most thorough explanation I can find. Worth reading. https://www.sochfactcheck.com/hamas-did ... the-fetus/

Ye will probably know that I also follow Max Blumenthal, a Jewish American journalist. He has done an excellent 44 min documentary exposing Israel's lies about 7th October. The Hannibal Directive piece is very eye-opening. https://x.com/TheGrayzoneNews/status/18 ... 9404186024

I was not even going to reply to the above( which is easily debunked online) as I thought we had moved back to talking about football.

Final thought is we are in our 150th year and we now have a “Celtic End” in our ground.

What a way to celebrate our 150th , so thanks for that Gerry & Serif…not.

There was some footage on A view from a terrace last night that showed the "Celtic end" was not as packed out as some of the photos on social media were framed to make out. Sounds as if it did generate a fair bit of revenue through hospitality and so on though. I am still not entirely convinced this will benefit our "club" to be honest, which is all I care about.

It just doesn't feel right having another club squating in the home of our club. I hope it is just a short term thing, we make a few quid and they move on somewhere else in the near future.
