Challenge Cup

Postby YeOldeHamiltonian » Mon Sep 02, 2024 2:06 pm

Well, the prices are now up and with it being £16 and £8 tomorrow night, I can safely say we will see what may be the lowest home attendance ever.

I was one of the 249 at Cliftonhill during the bad old days for a Friday night game against Brechin I think?

This will challenge it crowd wise…absolutely clueless.

This is a game we should be actively boycotting. Zero impact to the league campaign and we need to show a stand. £16 to watch a game against a B team. Jesus Christ.

Yeah have to agree that is a ridiculous price for a game against a B team. Most of us think B teams should not even be part of the competition for a start let alone pay that to watch a glorified reserve game.

I usually sacrifice other things to attend every game that I can, but in this instance, I can not justify my attendance.

Sad what has happened to both this competition and our club at the moment. If Accies need money over and above the price we pay for proper games get the bloody club shop open and well stocked.

Why should we be expected to pay extra at the gates to subsidise the clubs obvious failings?

I, like many others, have traveled all over the country for years following accies. Spending time and money I couldn’t always afford or justify. Now here I am seriously considering whether to go to a game less than ten minutes from my house!
£16!! For what I assume will be pretty much a reserve game. As if we as fans don’t feel alienated enough from the club at the moment in what should have been a celebration season.

I wouldn’t blame anyone for choosing to boycott this match.

Judging by the commets on Twitter, this could be the lowest attended game in a long time

Disgraceful. Tone deaf as usual from Zengin and Strain. Actually dearer than the League Cup, which had a kids price of £5.

Was coming on to agree with this , and still do but almost all clubs are doing similar, it's crazy. EK are charging £15 for the game against Cove.
The only teams , that I can find doing the right thing are Ayr and Raith at £10 and £5.

And, it's a NO from me, also having travelled the length & breadth of Scotland (& England) to watch Accies.
Looks like those in charge have a total disconnect from reality as to sensible pricing to attract new fans. far less long suffering existing ones.

On the plus side, those that do choose to attend will probably be history makers tonight as part of the lowest crowd recorded at an accies competitive game. Certainly at NDP.

Are we calling this an official fans boycott? From conversations I’ve had with fellow fans, comments on here, on twitter and on p&b I haven’t seen or heard of anyone who is going tonight.

I'll be there but only because my ticket is already paid for, otherwise I would find something else to do.

Crazy idea but why don’t we get a shirt sponsor, have a retail and commercial presence and have various 150th anniversary events to raise money instead of these lazy high ticket prices?

Or 50/50 draw tickets, club lottery, sponsor a player's kit. How is all that beyond us? Albion Rovers do all three plus a superb programme.

Disappointed so many chose to pay that insane price tonight. 308? They deserved 108.

That's a good point. I was told years ago that they include everybody in the stand even press.

Woah woah. Steady on. This kind of logical thinking has no place in NDP.

308,,i,thought it was closer to 450,it was boys against men ,but it was good to see some of the young boys the lad Eadie looks very good for a lad who has just turned 16,newbury was excellent again ,and morgan ran his socks of ,4.0 it was but could have been 7,or 8
.i agree £5 and £10 would have been fairer price ,but me bring an old guy got in for 8 quid ,i would struggle to take my kids and myself to games these days at these prices ,football in general is well over priced now for familys
