Football Club Accounts Overdue

Postby porcupine » Thu Aug 22, 2024 2:52 pm

Probably best that this is a separate topic rather than include it in the Dunfermline thread.

Hamilton Academical Football Club Ltd's accounts are indeed overdue at Companies House, A Motion to strike off this company has been "Gazetted", for the second time within a year, probably due to failing to submit audited accounts within the legal time allowed. The last accounts as at 30 June 2022 were eventually submitted in July 2023. The June 2023 accounts should have been submitted by now.

Of course, there's been a flurry of Director changes in the last year, with McGowan, Maitland, Gray, McCallion, & Hay all resigning, and now only listing Zengin, Brown, Strain & Doherty as current Directors. It is up to those directors of HAFC Ltd to comply with the requirements of the Companies Act. However, it may be the case that they have had difficulty in obtaining accounting information from the previous directors of Hamilton Academical Football Club Ltd. There is another new company in the mix (1874 Holdings Ltd), and whether Deeka Ltd & Edencrest Ltd still have any ultimate control is yet to be determined from information still to be submitted.

I'm sure 1874 was the company Serif formed to buy the football club, as such does HAFC Ltd still exist? I have no real idea of the legalities of how this works.

Yes. HAFC Ltd still exists at Companies house which is why they are looking for the audited accounts that are now overdue. Not that the accounts ever told us anything meaningful as they contain the minimum required for submission in line with the company’s obligations to Companies House. You’ll find all the history there free of charge. Just Google Companies House then search for either individual names or company name. Best of luck, accie!

Update

Companies House records now shows DP Doherty as Director having resigned in March but the Notice of Strike-Off has been discontinued. Club's accounts are still nearly three moths overdue, though.

And we are still signing more players? From where does the money cometh?

I would guess we are being financed by Seref and to a lesser extent Gery Strain at the moment. I would hope they have a sound business model in place as this wouldn't be sustainable in the longer term.

St Johnstone are probably paying part of their two loanees wages, so the last two signings may not have involved that much money.

   £1 down on the ticket fees. Seref and Strain can get so far to f’k. The level of ignorance is frightening. No student prices is such a downfall regardless of these prices, a 19 year old full time students being asked to pay £25 for Hamilton vs. Airdrie is laughable.

This quid drop is incredibly insulting but I’m in no way surprised. The circus lives on.

Companies House lists 12 companies where Gerard Patrick Strain is currently listed as a Director. 11 of these companies are Dormant and only Hamilton Academical Football Club is Active.

So where's the external source of any income from which to finance the football club, accie? You know something that we don't?

Serif has numerous companies I know of, as can be seen on companies house. Never looked at Gerry Strain, why the need for the middle name?, but he has a company that does office equipment..DS Business Solutions?

Why? Gerry seems to be day to day business. Serif is the owner. Do you think neither have the finances?

Seem to recall delayed accounts being an almost annual thing for years with apparently little or no consequence of note.

It appears that the company that traded as DS Business Solutions until the beginning of the year was DOCUMENT SOLUTIONS (NORTHERN) LIMITED which was liquidated in January. I don't really understand accounts but looks like that company owed a lot to HMRC.

If his main business has had some tough times, would Gerry really be able to or willing to put money in to Accies?

HAFC might be the only regular source of INCOME for some people out-with the playing staff.
