January Transfer Window

So the window open on Sunday. Usual ambiguous statements from the club that are either intended to confuse the fans/mislead the fans/wind the fans up or reflect confusion/conflicting agendas behind the scenes at NDP.

So what do we know?

Daz has said that they can’t get any more out of the current squad and that there are too many young players on the bench
Rankin has said they have been given permission to speak to possible signings
Rankin has said there is one player on trial this week
Rankin has said it will be a busy January window but players will need to go out if new players are to come in

And what do we not know?

Is there any additional budget for new recruits or is it simply one out for one in
The role of the Director of Football Dave Mackinnon in identifying targets. Is he even at the club?
The role of the CEO in negotiating contracts?
The role of the Chairman?

My money is on the same individual who mocked the fan base because there were fewer than 100 fans at Parkhead for a League game a few seasons back.

Or the same individual who put a laughing face emoji in response to a critical fan after a recent defeat. They should be sacked.

From Rankins’ post match interview today

"We had potential over the week previous to bring bodies in. Unfortunately, they either want time to think about it or something else is on the horizon for them.

"It is hard at this stage of the season to get players and, obviously, people will look at the league position as well.”

Ok so how can Arbroath who are PART TIME and only a position above us manage to bring in 3 players who all start today? Maybe it’s cos they have a budget for it but Community Colin is hoarding our cash to fit out his drug addict hostel.

Latest interview with Rankin today

Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin says he won’t just accept being written off as relegation favourites in the Championship, and demands a siege mentality at the club.

And he says Arbroath’s surprise 4-2 win at Dundee proves that any team can beat anybody else in the league………………“We’re in January, we can revamp things, we can bring new energy, new blood, and that bit of quality that we’re needing in.

Sounds desperate.

It is desperate! Players played with fear on Saturday. No-one wanted to make a mistake that would cost us another goal.

Confidence is carpet high. A visit to Ayr on Saturday, with them still playing well, will be a daunting prospect for a manager bereft of availability of any new signings. Is this is due to lack of sufficient cash, or just that players are uninterested in joining a club that is possibly known throughout football for its less than professional approach to the game. e.g. Holes in the goal net/ Incompetent announcements last Saturday?

I don't expect to see any marquee signings this month.

Comedy gold today on Facebook with HAFC Board deleting their posts after slagging fans, "ya tadger" was one of the lesser insults, being caught using a fake account and the carry on which followed...some details of this on Pie and Bovril Accies thread page two.

Meanwhile,Arbroath make another signing-Ryan Dow within the last two hours.

No Wonder our fans are at breaking point.

It would be funny YOH if it wasn’t so sad. The whole episode leaves a rotten taste in the mouth. It’s like watching the club falling apart in front of our eyes and we are powerless to do anything about it. I might disagree with Ronnie about a lot of things but at least there was a sense of professionalism about the club. Over the last 2 season as Mcgoofey has cemented total control of the club he has stripped that professionalism out, getting rid of everybody from sports analysts to the stadium announcer replacing the latter with the previous incompetent. Then we have the new Director ostensibly trying to improve club fan relationships but in a matter of weeks he has caused more damage than good. Meanwhile Arbroath get 4 signing and Cove who are in a way better position than us replace their manager.

Well a signing. Not clear what position he plays but I wish him well.

Ooh and a second one

“First up ✍️ welcome to
@DylanMcGowan91
who has joined on temporary transfer from Kilmarnock. Has played for Hearts, East Fife as well as in Australia (capped once for AUS), Portugal, Denmark and South Korea”

Both starting today with Mcgowan taking the captains armband. McGowan looks like the kind of signing we need Time will tell.

A couple of Stoke fans on Twitter saying we've got a really good player, " really good technically ", which always makes me laugh. If you're not good technically you're not really a footballer, are you?

McGowan's signing probably means even less chance of seeing Easton in the team yet he's been far from the worst defender this season. Think we might get a 1-1 today, which is often the score down there.

From Rankins’ post match interview

"But the next part of what we need to do is bring in more offensive, creative players.

"We need players who are going to score goals and be a threat.

"People who score goals are hard to find but we need to do that. We have to work as hard as we can to get another few over the line.

"If you are asking me where we are in the transfer window at the moment, we are not finished yet.

"We have got a good few to bring in yet and there will be a few going."

Problem is by the time we get them in,we will be too far adrift.

Today was the perfect day to get some kind of result with the way Arbroath/Cove capitulated but typical Accies not making advantage.

I'd give Tiehi a run in the team, say the next three inc the cup game. He gives us a physical presence up front that we lack. He's scored a couple of good goals and probably should have had another in the televised Ayr game. I'm assuming we've now got him for the full season.

Would love to see those 4 off the wage bill, however after today and our current position I doubt it will make any difference.
The game is a bogey.

From Maitlands’ Lanarkshire Live interview

Asked if Rankin had funds to bring in more players, Maitland added: “I’m trying to get players out to bring players in.

“I’m hoping to have another player in for this weekend, but that will be determined by the club we are trying to bring him in from.

“It will depend on what they do this week, so we will see how that goes.
