Out of contract players

No game this Saturday so like Stevie Clarke a bit bored. The website transfer market.co.uk has a detailed list of the squad and their contract duration. Not always 100%accurate I still haven’t found a better source.

https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hamilto ... 021/plus/1

So according to it the following are out of contract at the end of this season-

Ryan Fulton
Jamie Smith
Jamie Hamilton
Daniel O’Reilly*
Adam McGowan
Brian Easton
Kieran McDonald
Mathew Shiels
Chris McGinn
Steve Lawson
Reegan Mimnaugh
Ronan Hughes
Kyle Munro
Andy Winter
Myles Gaffney

* The length of O’Reillys’’ contract is not mentioned in either the Accies’ press release or in the media, Scottish or Irish. I know Lawson is only on a short term contract.

Add to that the loans list viz, Hilton,Popescu,Mullen,Kennedy and we are potentially looking at some turnaround in the squad. Ok I would imagine quite a few of them will sign new contracts but it certainly allows Stan the opportunity to remake the squad.

Shaun Want and Scott Martin signed contracts until summer 2023 when they last signed extensions.

Thanks Scotty I’ve removed them from the list after finding an old archived Accies news release confirming same.

From the BBC gossip page

Hamilton Accies face an anxious wait to discover if Jamie Hamilton will sign a new contract after "pushing the boat out'' to keep the 20-year-old defender, who is out of contract this summer, at New Douglas Park.

If he signs for anyone else then there is a development fee so at the very least what we got for Ferguson. That will deter most Scottish clubs so it would have to be an English championship club or a better resourced League 1 club. But he has failed to kick on this season in part because of injury and then add in his chest scare and I think most clubs will be wary.

Jamie H looks to have plateaued this season and it may be that will deter many suitors for his services. No-one came in for him when he was being regularly watched in the Premiership, so its unlikely that he'll move this time. Hopefully he re-signs and can then play regularly injury free which should command a far better price for both himself and the Accies.

Always thought that we were 'robbed' with Lewis Ferguson going to Aberdeen. Does anyone know if we got further payment with his Scotland Caps, or does that not apply with a Developement Fee?

No idea if Scotland caps got us more money but if Ferguson goes in the summer as is strongly rumoured we are entitled to potentially 10% of the fee.

You’ve always got to read between the lines with some of the Accies press interviews. I take it from Mullins’ comments that we shouldn’t expect a significant change in the squad composition for next year with the next crop of youngsters coming through and expected to feature. A brief mention of course they will need some experience around them but that’s hardly the foundation of a promotion challenge. Of course it helps when the right experience is recruited. As for Jamie Hamilton maybe he’ll sign maybe he won’t.
