How do you think we'll do between now and split?

Postby Accies4ever » Sat Feb 07, 2015 10:05 pm

Looking at the remaining games until the split, here's how I honestly think we'll do:

Aberdeen (H). We'll do well to get a draw.
Celtic (A). Lose.
St Mirren (A). We'll get at least a point.
Ross Co (H). Perhaps our first win under Canzo.
Motherwell (A). Draw.
St Johnstone (H). We'll get at least a point.
Dundee Utd (A). Lose.

Prediction that we'll have 49 pts come the split.

What's your thoughts?

Aberdeen 0-2 defeat
Celtic 3-0 defeat
St Mirren 0-0 draw
Ross County 2-0 win
Motherwell 1-1 draw
St Johnstone 0-0 draw
Dundee Utd 3-1 defeat

1 win
3 draws
3 defeats
6 more points 47 points

Dundee could finish on 57 max, but won't. As long as they lose 3 and draw one ie drop 11 points we'd be top six at the split based on us getting 6 more points.
We should manage that ;)

I think a bit of consensus about how we think we'll do.

I still believe that we'll achieve a top 6 split, despite our recent form.
Failure to do so, would be viewed by me (and I'm sure others) as a major disappointment and not a sign that Canning & co are moving us in the right direction.

Sorry, it's a results driven business!!!

Lack of a cutting edge may be the downfall. Time will tell. I suspect the club are still out there looking for an out and out striker. We should be looking to take maximum points of the bottom three. Don't expect anything from the Aberdeen or Celtic games.

Dundee's run in

Celtic (h)
Aberdeen (h)
Inverness (a)
Dundee Utd (h)
St Johnstone (a)

They'll be doing very well to only lose two of those and the final game should help us if Saints are breathing down our necks too.

I think we'll get to the split on around 47 points but 45 I think will be enough, maybe even 44.

The big thing from yesterday is that after poor form we could and should have beaten a flat Killie team at home. We now face 2 games where we can probably expect to take nothing by the end of which our overall form will be more relegation than top 6. The games thereafter are when we will need to be sorted if our season is not to fade away from us.

It could have been much worse yesterday.
At the beginning of the 2nd half Killie had a few really good chances in quick succession.
I felt at the time if we had got a goal down, that we wouldn't have recovered from it.

Thankfully, we came back into the game and it was us that finished the strongest.
Should of had a penalty and went on and won, but that's history now.

Other posters may have the opposite opinion from me, but if we were to fail to reach top 6, even with the recent "turmoil" within the club, from the position we were in when Alex Neil left, would be a disaster.

Questions would need to be levelled at the board and their choice of Manager.
My thoughts are as strong as that on the situation.

Accies staying in the top league can never be classed as a disaster, never.

We are in the realm of hypothetical but we will never know how Alex would have coped with losing Neil (the player) Andreu and MAC in a short period.

There's no question of us being relegated, this season.
That doesn't mean you don't aspire to do the best you can.

Finishing top 6 would surpass what we have achieved in recent and likely living memory and is very achievable.
Unless you are saying we should try to achieve safety from relegation as soon as we can, then just give up.

Being in the SPL is heady but now we are here, should we not set new goals?

It could well be that come next season we may well be involved in the relegation dogfight and we'd bite off the hand that offers us safety from relegation.
We'll find out.

But for this season, in the position we inherited from Neil, yes, missing out on top 6 would be a disaster.....in my opinion.
