So were the 6 ?

That voted for self preservation for the Old Firm $ ?

Did anyone seriously think it was a viable opten?

I reckon we voted for reconstruction as if you're Les Gray why would you be the Chairman of a set up you were against.

To start with without being small minded we are not a top 6 team and that means we are never gaurenteed the 4 home games v the bigots soooo we have more chance surviving in a 14 team league and sacrificing 2 old firm games (which we invariably lose anyway) and here is potentially why.

Finishing 10th last year got us £1.25m

Losing 2 home games v the bigots is approx 4,000 fans from each team paying £25/£30 which gives a revenue of £200/£240k in total.

What would you rather have if you were Les Gray? £1.25m or £240k ?

Out of interest the Championship winner last year got £562k

So who are the 6? Here's my guess. 2 easy ones straight away, Celtic and Hibs, Celtic for protecting TV revenue. Hibs opted out of the talks straight from the off so there an easy pick.

Aberdeen, St Johnstone, Motherwell all see themselves as top 6 teams and they'll have voted to protect the Old Firm games, St Johnstone gave up 3 stands to Celtic the last time they played. And the other is more likely to be St Mirren.

PS, Feel disgusted for clubs like Kelty and Brora who are investing in their team and commnity and are deprived the opportunity to gain a place in the league.

Aberdeen St Mirren, Ross County, St Johnstone, Hibs and Dundee United voted it down.

Hamilton, Motherwell and Hearts were for it. The remaining clubs offered no opinion.

So what does sitting back and saying nothing say about those clubs, especially the bigots.

They know it's never going to happen so didn't feel the need to get involved. To not even sit and have the discussion is the typical arrogance of both clubs.

As for Hearts since they came up 4 years ago they've finished 3,5,6,6, I didn't hear much chat about league reconstruction from them and if we were sitting bottom just now there is no way they would want it now.

So I have no sympathy for them but I do feel that all the leagues needs freshened up. Playing the same team every 7/8 weeks is becoming tedious and repetitive.

They should make all the leagues in such a way that it's H&A and that's it and then you make an effort to follow your team away. I for one won't finance the bigots twice a season, maybe once but never twice. And how many people go to Dingwall, Pittodrie twice a season?

I also believe that it be worthwhile that for the bottom 2 divisions as much as possible make it regional. How many teams can afford to get buses from say Stranraer to Peterhead same as well the fans. Its a ridiculous journey to make especially in winter which could be anything from November to March

And Livvy, Killy, plus Sevco & Sellck sat on the fence. Pathetic, really, and sums up their self-interest strategy.
Scottish football has been crying out for a fresh wind of change for a long time. Sad that this opportunity has been wasted for everyone, especially the play-offs for Brora & Kelty. Don't tell me that Berwick Rangers, who had a representative on the panel, didn't vote for a change!! Nah!

The whole sorry episode stinks.

The LL were approached in January and asked should Brechin get relegated the preferred option for them is the LL as opposed to the HL which falls within their boundary. The Tay bridge is the cut for the HL and LL leagues in case you didn’t know.

Anyway the chairman of the LL asked if the clubs making the away trip to Brechin would be reimbursed their transport costs.

Then the spfl started to show their muscle. No costs covered and no LL “invited” into the challenge cup or the betfred cup unless they agreed. Interesting to note ken Ferguson the Brechin chairman is on the spfl board and guess what, his league was the only one that suffered no relegation. Funny that

Yes, of course it was the reference to Brechin City I should have typed and not Berwick Rangers, who dropped out last year.  As you say, BW, the whole thing smells very bad.

Not suggesting anything, but remember, Brechin City's late chairman David Wills, was a UEFA VP for very many years, so the club may still have some influence in Scottish Football. Never quite got over seeing the massive stand built right behind the turnstile goals, with money from somewhere. It eliminated the flowerbeds and the space for kids to play on the grass there at half time :D Happy Days.

Bear in mind that there is no automatic demotion from league 2 - they would have had a playoff with the winner of the HL/LL playoff.

ALL playoffs have been cancelled - therefore no demotion

Thank you, SOTB, for that reminder ;)
