Hope this is just paper talk. The lad is good, very good but think this will be too much too soon for him. He will end up in their under 23 team or whatever they have. Wont get near the first team for a long time. All the while he could be playing first team football with us getting experience then benefit from that and move on in a few years time

Lewis Smith’s retention is crucial to our survival aspirations.
Hopefully, with better coaching now, players will no longer bale ASAP and stay for up to 100 games. The recent contract extensions offer hope he and Hamilton are not desperate to leave.
Lewis is the real deal, will go in due course with our best wishes.

This could well be another "Greg Docherty situation" where the boy gets nowhere their first team and we loose an excellent present & future star worth far more. It's possibly his agent who is churning a sale opportunity for his own cut. Hope someone can use the GD situation as a good example, and, with his family Accies supporters, the comparison is already there for all to see.

As far as I know Porcupine! Lewis’s dad is his agent and the whole family seem to have their heads screwed on. There may be a buy out clause in his contract but even if there was I wouldn’t touch Newcastle with a barge pole while Ashley is the owner. They are going nowhere this season or in the future while he’s about.

Good news (if true!) We live in hope :) :)

Jack Breen has had his loan with Albion Rovers extended to the end of the season. Still quite a few young boys who were out on loan till january to have their futures decided for the rest of the season.

From the Daily record transfer news live page:-

Morton want Darian Mackinnon with the midfielder frustrated by his lack of playing time at Hamilton.

The Accies skipper, 34, wants regular first-team football, with Ton boss David Hopkin making his move.

He isn't even on the bench for us so presumably his Accies first team days are over so it makes sense. Frees up some wages for a headline signing (not)

Link to full story here. The article goes onto to say that Luke Southwood is expected to be back for the Edinburgh City cup tie so thats something.

We are now getting linked with Berra who has been told that he is surplus to requirements at Hearts and told to train with the youth team. Hearts fans dont seem too bothered about him going most think he is done one describing him as carryng a fridge at the front.

Bad news about Stubbs away :o Did someone not post about him throwing his shirt into the crowd at the Well game? Looks like he knew then that he was being recalled and off to Holland.

That's a big blow for us as we looked to have found a real centre half for a settled period. Good luck to Sam, however, if it prospers his career.

Does this mean Fjortoft, who was signed as a centre back, will now be played, or is BR on the hunt for another Marko type?

We should actually offer Aberdeen £50K for McKenna.

Disappointed that’s Stubbs has left, probably our best defender this season.
Rice has McKenna back from injury soon and Fjortoff as an option along with Hamilton and Easton, but he’ll need to decide if he needs more back up or a definite starter.
Berra wouldn’t be the worst option. He’s not had a great season but is experienced.
Thomas O’Ware would be a good option but would require a transfer fee so unlikely to happen.

He sure did porcupine, he was the only one who throw his shirt in after the Motherwell game and being naive I thought it was a late crimbo present for a young lad.

Big loss but please please not Berra, he’s a cheating diving prick of a defender and hoofs everything, seriously fuck off with that.

From daily record transfer news:-

Hamilton insist they’re in no rush to sell prodigy Jamie Hamilton with the 17-year-old defender being tracked by Everton, Burnley and Brighton.

Accies were dealt a blow on Tuesday night with centre-back Sam Stubbs recalled from his loan by Middlesbrough, but a source has told Record Sport Hamilton could now feature more prominently in the first team.

There has been interest but no official approach.
With Sam Stubbs leaving it will give Jamie more opportunities to play. If we received a bid for Jamie then that might change things.

Stubbs out Hamilton in Not a surprise there. A prospect but far from the finished article.

Surely we would never even consider Berra. At Tynecastle, earlier in the season, the Hearts fans were berating him throughout the game even though he scored against us!

Like Wurzil, I never gave the shirt throwing a second thought at Fir Park. I thought that Easton and Hamilton did really well against Rangers.

Like everyone else I canot conceive of BR looking at Berra, where he looks to be at the end of his career, at least in the top leagues. With BR having said that he is looking to reduce the age of the team, why would he sign a 34 year old centre back, when he has declined to play Daz (at the same age) this season? We already have younger, albeit less experienced, players on our books, and on a lot less money that Berra would be looking for.

This is the opportunity to blood them, even though our league position is not great. If Jamie Hamilton is as good as all the teams watching him think he is, then play the lad. Surely, he can only get better with more game time in the first team?

And we have Marcus Fjortoft, who has hardly been give a chance, with Stubbs consistency since the summer.

However, I can't be the only one a bit concerned that St Mirren have beefed up their defence by three signings so far in this window.

Stubbs away and Southwood away, probably 2 of our best this season. Unless BR pulls out a miracle its not looking good is it

The article I linked to yesterday says Southwood is expected back for the Cup game. I remain positive that’s correct.

Hopefully Southwood returns for the rest of the season. He’s impressed me.
As he’s now our first choice, Reading will hopefully see the benefits of him playing every week; the reason for sending players out on loan in the first place. He’s not ready for their first team but after another 5 months here he may be (or may fancy another season here on loan).

From BBC gossip page:-

Hamilton Accies are poised to sign winger Andy Dales on loan from Scunthorpe United for the rest of the season. (Daily Express, print edition)

A bit more detail from the Daily Record gossip page,

Hamilton are ready to bring Andy Dales back to the Premiership.

Accies want to sign the winger on loan from Scunthorpe for the second half of the season. Dales is expected to travel to Scotland today to complete his move.

The 25-year-old previously had a loan spell at Dundee at the end of last season.

Hamilton head coach Brian Rice has done his homework on Dales and believes he can add more creativity and attacking threat to his side.

Dales did well at Dundee last season but lost his way as the Dark Blues ended up being relegated.

The Englishman is also keen to get his career back up and running after making just four top-team appearances for the Iron this season.

Hamilton are also considering their defensive options after English side Middlesbrough recalled Sam Stubbs.
