January transfer window

Postby TerracingTomas » Tue Dec 10, 2019 11:21 am

Might as well start.

From BBC gossip page:-

Hamilton manager Brian Rice hopes to extend goalkeeper Luke Southwood's loan deal from Reading - which expires on January 5 - until the end of the season.

Good bit of business if it comes off.

The best bit of business we could do is to get Greg Docherty on loan from Rangers for the rest of the season , highly unlikely but we can all live in hope.

Other than the wages required, that's not a bad shout, as Docherty has no future at Ibrox, and probably knows it.
Gerrard is to ship out a lot in January, most of whom he inherited. BUT, would Greg be interested?
Most likely to go to a Engerland Championship team.

Greg would be lucky to get a championship side. He had 2 chasing him allegedly but forced the move to Sevco all so he could get a family picture. Sunderland, Bolton or Pompey beckons for him.

Extending Southwoods loan would be a decent start. But we should be looking at an experienced Centre Half, Cover for Right back and a creative Mid.

Greg Docherty in,creative midfielder in such as Doran from Inverness( although I can't see it) and try for Templeton as apparently he is moving back up here in the summer anyway.

As said above, cover for right back also.

“Adrian Beck has opened talks with Hamilton Accies over extending his loan deal beyond January but the German midfielder wants more game time. (Daily Express, print edition)”

The Daily Record reporting Greg Docherty amongst a number of players Rangers looking too off load in January. Not a surprise as he has not made any impact this season after coming back from his loan spell. I would love to see him back with us for the rest of the season but cant see it happening. Division 1 down south?

Well, most of us predicted that this would happen when GD signed for them. Old firm hoovereing up any talent to stop opposition teams with having good palyers in them. Only benefit he has had was a significant increase in salary with his four year contract at the time. Not sure whether playing for the Schrews was any better than Premiership with us.

However, we were told that there would be a sell-on clause (20%?) if he went elswhere after 'Gers so Accies would benefit from that income. Can't see him coming to us, even on loan, though.

Another Blue-Nosed family's dreams down the pan, methinks.

Such a shame for the lad. You have to wonder what advice he was given before he moved.

In any event, would he make such of a difference if he did come back? He’ll no doubt see it as a backwards step and take his eye off of the boil.

Would love to see him back but doubt that will happen. When he did go to Gers initially and played a few games thought he looked good. However Rangers have improved dramatically this season and quality of players have improved so he was always gonna struggle.

Good luck to the lad, 4 year deal and decent money at that, so can see why he went to Gers

But old firm have been doing this for years, taking the best talent from the diddy clubs and leaving them to rot in reserves. Even this year, Jake Hastie from Motherwell, Jordan Jones from Killie went to Gers and got no where near first team, aprt from Jones getting sent off against Celtic. Even Greg Stewart has rarely featured, and Lewis Morgan disappeared for a while at Celtic

The bigots have been killing Scottish football for close on 140 years now.

Any player with any promise gets sucked in with double wages and no game time.

I could make a list but we all know so there’s no point

From the BBC gossip page:-

Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion are considering making a move for Hamilton Academical defender Jamie Hamilton, with the Scottish Premiership club wanting £1.5m for the 17-year-old Scotland Under-19 international.

Some movement today in terms of current loanees both inward and outwards. The boy from everton Adedojin has gone back. Reading between the lines never interested in being here. Of our 2 boys at Airdrie Charie Reilly and Leon McCann, Reilly is coming back as he has picked up an ankle injury that will keep him sidelined for upto 3 months. Seems to be highly rated by airdrie. Left back Leon Mccann has been signed by Airdrie on a long term deal no mention of a fee so i assume we get a share of any fee if he moves on from airdrie. Also highly rated by airdrie presumably we saw him as surplus to requirements. That still leaves 8 players out on loan who were all due back in janaury.

From the daily record transfer news page:-
Hamilton have cut Everton winger Korede Adedoyin’s loan spell short as Brian Rice begins his mid-season revamp, writes Fraser Wilson.

Accies - bracing themselves for January bids for star defender Jamie Hamilton - have allowed Adedoyin, 19, to return to Goodison halfway through his loan after making just one appearance.

Nigerian-born Adedoyin had scored 11 times for the Toffees’ youth side last season but failed to break into Rice’s first team plans and has returned to the Premier League side for the rest of the season.

A decision is due to be made on German forward Adrian Beck who is expected to return to Belgian side Royal Union Saint Gilloise when his six-month loan ends in the new year. Beck has made just six appearances, mostly from the bench, for Accies.

Teenage defender Hamilton is on the radar for a number of English sides with Burnley and Brighton leading the chase for the player ahead of the window opening on Wednesday.

Hamilton, 17, signed a contract extension last month and Accies are understood to be looking for seven figures for the Scotland youth international.

Meanwhile Rice is looking to strengthen the forward areas of his side ahead of the business end of the season.

I might be looking for one or two but it won’t be anything more than that.
You’ve got to know what market you’re looking at. There’s no point looking at the English Championship or League One, we can’t afford players from those leagues.

In terms of the last paragraph of Brian’s statement, where are we looking at then? Blantir Vics? Larkhall Thistle? Addis Ababa Rovers’ reserve team??

Only seen the young lad Jamie Hamilton, when he played against Rangers and up against Defoe. Dont think Defoe had a kick of the ball all game, young lad was excellent

Beck, send him back

Adedoyin, same as numerous other young players from England ,not interested and glad to see back of him, maybe give some of our own youngsters a chance

Southwood returning to Reading at the end of his loan but Accies negotiating to get him back for the rest of the season. Unless the boy himself doesn’t want to come back or Reading fancy him for their first team squad I would imagine he will be back.

https://www.hamiltonacciesfc.co.uk/luke-southwood/

And Liam Scullion is returning to us from his loan at Stenhousemuir where he featured 19 times.
