Forum Rules - Updated Feb 13th

Accies World elects to avoid heavy handed moderation and encourages open football discussion. That said, rules are sometimes necessary, so here we are:

1. No personal attacks. If you disagree with something someone writes, then by all means engage them in a reasoned debate, but avoid going ad hominem or resorting to name calling.

2. The use of curse words will not be tolerated. There simply isn't any need for it, so leave it out.

3. Racism will not be tolerated in any form.

4. Please avoid creating multiple threads on the same topic as it clutters the main page and fragments discussion.

5. Trolls and wind up merchants are not welcome. No baiting.

6. Keep discussion on topic. This is a forum, not a chat room, so engaging in off-topic personal conversation with other posters is unwelcome. If you want to chat about random things, start a thread in the General Discussion forum.

This list will be amended as necessary, and any suggestions to improve it are always welcome.

I think this is timely - and thank you for taking the trouble to post it.

I particularly like the use of 'ad hominem' and 'parentheses' within the same post. Class act!

Excellent post, ADMIN. Now all we need is for those who have sinned, to understand the plain English, as well as the Latin, in your clear summary. Pax vobiscum!

Haha, yes. Reading it now, it could stand to be a little more direct. I shouldn't write these things while at work... :P

That being said, some general guidelines are always a good idea.

1. No personal attacks. If you disagree with something someone writes, then by all means engage them in a reasoned debate, but avoid going ad hominem or resorting to name calling.

2. Refrain from using curse words. To many they are deemed offensive, and there are so many better alternatives in the English language. This rule also includes purposely misspelt curse words, or the forming of such words using parentheses and so on.

3. Racism will not be tolerated.

4. [b]Please avoid creating multiple threads on the same topic. This is unnecessary and merely serves to clutter the forum and scatter any discussion on the topic

Number 4 seems to be beyond a few folk.
