Stewart Petrie should be on there. Gave Montrose their first promotion in 22 years and doing quite well in the third tier. Goodwin would be my first choice though.

Of that lot Goodwin but Danny Lennon might be worth a shout. Done a really decent job at Clyde.

Ive voted for Goodwin as he is the obvious choice from that list. I still think that he will bide his time and wait for the saint mirren job to come up. I’m sure his departure from us as a player was slightly acrimonious so that might affect the boards/his thinking. Someone has suggested the Montrose manager who seems to be getting results. There may be others in the lower leagues who are young and ambitious worth a look. Not so sure about Lennon but I acknowledge he seems to be doing a fair job. Would love to see a Steve clarke type of appointment but they are once in a blue moon success stories. As I've said I hope this is a proper recruitment exercise and not a repeat of the last time and over 60 applicants but all along it was Martin’s job. If Dougie had been in the running I think the board would have appointed him interim until the end of the season. Optimism and excitement back in the air.

Danny Lennon or Jim Good win would both be good shouts.

What about Paul Hartley?

I know he annoyed a lot of people, but did very well with Alloa and, initially, Dundee. He struck me as quite a progressive manager.

Clearly, it didn't work for him at Falkirk, but it looks like the issues there run deeper than just the manager.

I think you're right about everything there. Goodwin didn't much like Accies as far as I remember, and made some disparaging remarks about us on leaving. Petrie at Montrose could be good, but I'm not too keen on Danny Lennon or Hartley to be honest. as for Dougie - way too inexperienced for one thing!

I’ve been told in the last hour that Boyd (Kris, not Scott) left our training session to go speak to Hamilton. Not as a manager but as a player/coach under the new regime.

So I wonder what that regime will be.

Jane Lewis on BBC in the last few minutes has said Accies are already inundated with applications from Spain,France,and "well known "names from Scotland and England.
So much for the diddies who said who'd want the job if Canning went!

Nothing on BBC Scotland TV in their sport news. Don't suppose we matter as a Premier team, being just Hamilton Accies.

Billy Stark isn’t someone I’d thought of before the poll, but as an ex-Accie who’s been generally successful as a manager, mostly with young players and on a low budget, he is a good left field shout.
Goodwin is doing well at Alloa but I also think he’ll be hoping to lead St Mirren’s promotion charge in season 19/20 and will wait for that job.
Martin leaves with my best wishes. The football has been mostly poor in the past 12 months and tactically he was going backwards but he also provided some good memories prior to that and was a decent player.
Out of his depth at times after being promoted into a job he didn’t seem to want.
