Scottish Cup Draw

Postby porcupine » Sat Nov 24, 2018 11:07 pm

Well, can't expecet any progress here after 19 January after drawing St Johnstone away at Perth. Having witnessed the 4-0 defeat there, this is one when I will go somewhere else on the day. Auchinleck Talbot V Ayr might just have some fight in it, unlike the last two Accies games.

Anyone out there who will give us a chance of progressing in the Cup?

Unless something dramatic happens on the management front no I can’t see us progressing. After the 4 - 0 debacle I’ll save my money and give this a miss Ithink.

Aye we've got a chance.
Not much but unlike today - a chance!
I'm almost hoping the under 19s go out and we promote some of them into the first team squad. Of course I'll be there on Wednesday supporting them as they probably won't be promoted anyway.
Dougie, Bingham and Taiwo are not up to it at the moment IMO.
Please, please, please don't treat the Scottish Cup with the same disdain as previous years. I am desperate to see us at Hampden for a game not v Queens Park.
I reiterate however that we do at least have a chance

St Johnstone away in the Cup is a home banker.

When StJohnstone came out i said "17" and sure enough. How many times have we been drawn against them? That's at least six away draws in a row in that cup - Annan , Killie, Dunfermline, Sevco and Motherwell.

Could have been worse lets be honest, we could have drawn Annan

At least going out to a Premiership side aint that bad.

Be interesting to see how many fans we take, after the last capitulation

If a new Manager we would take a decent support;if Canning lucky to get to three figures.

We took 355 to Killie two years ago. Hard to imagine that now.

I have to say I share the general gloom at this draw. It's hard to see us getting through.

Every season I hope we're going go on a decent cup run, and every season I'm disappointed. Ronnie Macdonald and co have taken the club to unprecedented post-war levels, but they've yet to deliver a good run in the cup. Quarter finals remain the best we've done since WW2 - extra time in a quarter final replay at Dens Park, when we were cheated by a handball, being the high point. When we'd have played Gretna in the semi final, if we'd got through.

I don't see us threatening that record this season,

Sevco two seasons ago was a quarter final, when their keeper handled outside his box at 0-0 and Garner punted Imrie into orbit and giggled with the ref.

Sevco became Devil on my predictive text. Spooky!

Yes, I know. But it wasn't a quarter final replay taken to extra time.

Bluesy, if it's any small consolation, we can reminisce re B & Q Finals, 1991 & 1992 :-)

Great memories. Add to them the League cup semi v Dundee United in the late 70s I think.
