12 attempts on target in 7 games so far

I might make this post a regular update.

Chalk up another 1 from Saturday.

All joking aside, can I say joking but that stat is horrific, I’m sure even Albion rovers have exceeded that amount of efforts on target and people are querying the pitiful crowd

Our crowds are starting to resemble Albion Rovers also.
No more than Macdonald and Gray deserve for employing such a non talent.
If you believe the Hugh Keevins's of this World Canning is doing a great job.
Only reason he kept us up was because of the freefall of the other Dross teams, we weren't exactly pulling up trees ourselves.
If this is what it takes to finally get rid of the Clown then so be it.
Bring it on.

It wasn't Canning who hit the bar, but Keatings and Bloomfield.

It wasn't Canning who shot too high, but Imrie and Bingham.

It wasn't Canning who didn't connect with Bingham's ball across the goalmouth, but Brustad.

Five good chances, none of which registers in the stats as a shot on target.

Celtic running riot against St Johnstone in first half.

Celtic have had more attempts on target in 45 minutes than we have had in all our league games this season, shocking statistic

Have we stopped counting now that it no longer fits the agenda?

6 attempts on goal recorded by the BBC today, 4 of them on target.

That's after 9 attempts, 3 of them in target, in our last game.

1 point seems scant return from these games, if you take the context of these stats.

One cherry-picked stat. And even that’s improving.

To clarify, this was a genuine concern when originally raised by Big Wurzil, but it's now just a stick to beat Martin Canning with.

It's one stat, varies from game to game - 12 attempts, 4 on target v St Mirren for instance - and it's improving. But as the St Mirren stats show, they can be misleading: we won that one 3-0, yet not so different stats, v Rangers, led to a 1-4 defeat. There can be great scoring chances, goalmouth incidents, near things, that don't lead to "shots on target" or even "shots".

Our team is coming together: this new team may even be better than last season's, and there are grounds for optimism. Let's not get hung up on one stat.

Call it what you want WW but it’s a stat that on the face of it is a concern regardless of new players settling in etc etc.

1 attempt on target v livi on Saturday will be 1 more than what we got at almondvale earlier in the season.

I think we'll do better than that. Aberdeen to come first, but I fancy us to up our game significantly against Livi this time. It's taken a while, but I think we're starting to get our act together. We certainly won't underestimate Livi, which I think one or two SPFL teams have done.

Bet you a cyberpint we get more than one "attempt on target"! :P

The only stat that really matters at the end of the day is being one goal better off than the team in 11th place come May.

Averaging 2 shots on target a game now which is poor.

It is being reflected in us only scoring 8 goals thus far. If you look at the last 3 seasons at the same stage we had scored 14 , 12 and 14 so there is grounds for concern.
