Ross Cunningham

I wonder if this could be his big breakthrough year?

Caught the eye at Clyde, scored at Stenny, comes in from wide, looks like exactly the sort of player to link up with big Bloomfield. Offers something different.

I've been wondering why we haven't brought in many new players from middle to front, at a time of heavy recruitment. Maybe Canning has Cunningham in mind for a regular starting role?

On the bench today at Annan. Bingham and Miller preferred. But I bet he comes on, second half.

I see Ross bagged two goals - a free kick and a penalty - in our behind-closed-doors friendly v Newcastle Under-23s the day before yesterday. And Bloomfield got the other one in our 3-1 win.

I don't want to rush the lad, but I remain hopeful he and Mason will be our first choice strike partnership this season.

When I have seen him for the u20s he has never played as a striker - always in midfield.

I've seen him listed on various sites as both a midfielder and a forward. From what little I've seen of him he looked more like a winger! I reckon he could play just behind a main striker and combine well.
