Oban Round Up:

Meanwhile up in the north west at Oban it was a similarly slow start with our mainly u16-21 squad, losing to Dundee Utd similarly aged squad 2-0 in game 1. United netting twice in the opening ten minutes.

Game 2 saw us draw 0-0 with St Johnstone’s u18s before a Sean Slaven goal gave us a 1-0 win over Glasgow junior side St Anthony’s after the lunch break.

We finished in style though with a 3-0 win over hosts Oban Saints with goals from Jack Breen, Charlie Reilly and a Niyah Joseph penalty.

Dundee Utd won all four games and they were the champions this year, the 25th running of the D&K Lafferty Cup at Oban.

The squad at Oban was – Ross Connelly, Jamie Smith, Leon McCann, Jamie Hamilton, Taylor Wilson, Jack Breen, Marc Kelly (c), Reegan Mimnaugh, Kyle Munro, Charlie Reilly, Niyah Joseph, Liam Scullion, Adam Douglas, Andy Winter, Sean Slaven, plus three trialists and support from u15s Gary Brown and Ryan Campbell.

Heard there was a bit of bother involving one drunken Accies fan who was shouting abuse at the manager and was trying to start fights. Disgusting behaviour if true.

I was there from start to finish and saw no bother or anyone trying to start fights.

There was a couple of good natured shouts - alcohol induced - but was taken in the spirit it was meant.
