Alex Penny.

Looks like a decent signing. But doesn't fit the Negative Nellies' narrative, does it?

Can't be any worse than Xavier Tomas.

Peterborough fans forums don't have a very high opinion of what some of them see as an injury prone defender;if he is deemed as not up to that level which is below SPL,then the jury is out on this one.

Hopefully they are wrong but we need guys to hit the ground running and not take 3-4 months to get up to speed.

Here's a video of him.

He was a graduate of the Jamie Vardy academy, made 11 appearances for Peterborough last season. Hopefully a gem!

Don't believe League 1 is below 'SPL' standard.

Multile reports we have also signed another defender Aaron Mcgowan from Morecombe. No offical announcement yet. If so these signings are very positive on a number of fronts. It looks as though there has been a bit of planning for the season and not lets see whose left. We are targetting the english lower leagues which many of our competitors have been doing successfully for the last few seasons and best of all something that we are all agreed on the defence has been a real problem for the last 2 years and this suggests we are seriosly trying to address this. Mind you we havent seen them play yet :P Keep this up and I might just take in a pre season friendly.

Accies have shown that, given the right training regime, they can get an 'injury prone' player to full fitness

As someone who travels down to watch lower League English games quite regularly,League 1 is hit and rush, physical and below our level. The bottom six in SPL is more mid to bottom Championship level.

The Morecambe lad if confirmed is more exciting for me as their fans rate him very highly.

I used to take in a few games down there too but not for a few years. I watched some of the play off games though. I'd fancy Coventry on their day to beat us, though they can be honking too. The bottom three last season was so bad, I honestly think they'd be lower League Two in England. I couldn't see Accies holding Spurs like Rochdale did and they were bottom of third tier at the time.

Last summer he was linked with 5 clubs. In no particualr order - Rangers, Bradford, Swindon, Charlton and Notts Forrest. Nothing came of any of these rumours. This year so far its been Hibs and now Motherwell. I can't see his supposed preference for a move south coming off so i suppose beggars cant be choosers. :P He will also be mindful of what happened to Ziggy who ended up signing a 1 year deal with Patrick which obviusly didn't suite him but at the time nothing else was on offer.

Should have sold Ali when his stock was high and both parties would have gained.
Been a good servant but can't think of many players who split the opinions of fans so much.
Marmite scenario
Love him or hate him.

His stock was never high IMO or we would have received a bid and sold him.

Constantly disappears in the biggest games when you are looking for a spark. That's why nobody wanted him then, and, by the looks of it, nobody wants him now either

As you rightly say.
That's YOUR opinion.
He'll get a Club no probs and I'm sure Ali is deeply upset that you don't rate him.

My impression of Ali was that he couldn't play to his full potential in our squad for the past couple of seasons. He would make smart passes, but the other players weren't reading the plays so it went nowhere. When we had other higher caliber players such as Andreu, he thrived.

Under rated player that has unfortunately stagnated somewhat. Hopefully he gets a decent move, he scored and created a lot of goals for us, and was a big part of why we have managed to stay in the top tier.
