Player turnover in the last two seasons
Posted: Mon Feb 19, 2018 3:34 pmWe had 35 players with registered team numbers when Sarris signed and was given shirt number 89. There were another seven U20's registered without shirt numbers. How we could afford a squad of that size on our limited income is surprising.
Since then only nine other players have kept their shirt number!! 7 Imrie, 10 Redmond, 11 Crawford, 18 MacKinnon, 22 Lyon, 26 Marshall, 27 Want, 28 Cunningham and 30 Boyd. Only five of those are first team squad regulars. 1 Woods was renumbered from 34, 23 McMann to 3, and 0 Ferguson to 25
What's more, some of the missing numbers have been filled by more than one player who has come & gone since.
IMO that's still a serious 'churn' of players in only a couple of seasons, and hardly helps to having a consistent team who have an understanding of each other' strengths and weaknesses on the park.
