January transfer window

Postby Willie Wastle » Tue Jan 02, 2018 6:45 pm

How will we fare?

I don't think anyone really expects us to bring in anybody new, not of any significance anyway. So are any new faces just a bonus?

Who could we lose?

I suspect Greg Docherty is at risk. Known to be of interest to Rangers, and the best prospect for bringing us in a chunk of cash to offset the recent fraud loss. I'm hoping we keep him to the end of the season, but I'm resigned to him leaving then.

David Templeton has also put himself in the shop window. But my information is he'll repay Accies for showing faith in him when nobody else did, by staying to the end of the season, then after that he'll be looking for a move down south.

Rumours persist of Skondras following Sarris back to Greece, but I suspect they're just someone putting 2+2 together and getting 5.

Thoughts?

I am sure Accies would do a deal with a club more akin to the Nigerian Banking System iro waiting for ever and a day to receive our money;the same club who bumped us for Cup Tie gate money pre liquidation was it not?

We have NO money to spend, but why should we panic and sell our best assets at this stage, especially to another team in our league, who probably have more debt and less available cash than we do. All speculation, of course. Keeping the Doc will enhance his value and see a move down south in due course, for FAR more than a Celgers outfit would offer.

Now, on the other hand, if someone came in for a former Juventus player, then???

It's all went quiet on the Ronan Hughes front also.
Not so long ago Arsenal, Man Utd, and the likes were allegedly battling it out for the signature of the Accies "wonder kid".

With Rojano rumored to be out until march and Boti Bia-bi looking like he is going back to swansea, should a couple of strikers be required?

Also wonder if Ali Crawford will sign a pre contract else where?

Confirmed on Twitter that Biabi has returned to Swansea.

I know we have been scoring fairly well but with the amount of goals the defence concedes we need to. If he were available I would like to see us going for Steven Dobie of QOS. Championship is a hard league and he is a regular scorer over the years

Being a 35 year old striker who would require a fee might also be a factor.

Not the sort of risk we'd take. No guaranteed return. Would he score for us in the SPL? Compare, for example, with our experience of Derek Lyle.

It's a no from me.

Dobbie has a special affinity with Queens anyway, they'll almost certainly be his last senior club.

You could quite easily be Cannings Chief Scout if you compare Lyle with Dobbie ffs.

I agree with Willie on Dobbie, it’s a no from me too.
A good signing 4 years ago but not this window. Equivalent to signing Scott McDonald when he left Motherwell, glad we didn’t.
Defensively OWare from Morton to replace Sarris would be decent if going to Championship level.

Whilst I thought the prospect of Mcdonald at NDP would be hilarious, he is in not bad form this season, 7 from 17 shows he can still poach a goal.
I read that Rojano was gonna be back to training before the Mwell Cup game? I wish we'd try a flat 4 with Temps playing behind Bingham.

The Docherty momentum seems to be gaining traction. I'd like a couple more seasons out of Docherty, he's got all the potential to surpass Mcarthur/Mcarthy in playing ability. It will come down to money, he will probably not get nearly enough game time at Rangers but a lot more money. I thought the likes of Celtic would look at him to be a replacement for the likes of Brown who isn't getting any younger.

As with all of our transfer windows, hopefully we can get some decent loan deals done to last till summer, Centre back and wide midfield player would be on my wishlist.

Greg Docherty to Rangers seems to be everywhere just now, would be absolutely gutted if that happened. IF he was to move i would much prefer it was to a team in England.

If it has to be Sevco 18734654 then so be it.
Just get the cash up front and verified as legit by a bank. (not RBS).

It'd be very bad form if we released him to the likes of Rangers. I thought Celtic would be surely looking to soon replace the ageing Brown in that midfield role, Docherty has the legs and strength to take his role from him soon.

Longridge has now also been released. I remember when he first broke out he had bags of pace, a few injuries later and he seemed a shell of his former self. Such a shame.

The Rangers tinted Scottish Media and the deluded fans of The Tribute Act really think we will sell him to a club we had to fight to get gate money off.
