Club statement

Postby 198586 » Fri Oct 13, 2017 4:32 pm

The following is a club statement from the Chairman:
Hamilton Academical FC have been the target of an elaborate fraud resulting in the loss of a substantial sum of monies.
The Police Service Scotland and our Bank are working closely with the club conducting a criminal investigation to pursue those individuals responsible.
At this point it is imperative that we remain calm and work together as we go through one of the most difficult situations we have faced as a club.
In the interim, the Directors intend to inject funds to meet the club’s ongoing obligations until the investigation is complete to ensure continuity.
It is our intention to host a media briefing to go into more detail when the initial legal and banking investigations reveal the facts. This will allow us to give full disclosure of the event.
No further comment will be made at this time as the Police investigation continues.

The ghost of Jim Watson?
Seriously, can anybody be surprised about these revelations?
The fans smelt a rat a long time ago.
Wee things like no card payments accepted ,only cash.
In this day and age who refuses any kind of payment?
I fear the worst.

What next? Hamilton Amateurs Football Club?

And the CEO is off to Parliament to tell them how charitable we are??

Your implications could all be totally unconnected to this, Amoutahere, but like you, I fear another embarrassment in the offing.

However, let's await the hard truth from the media briefing, whenever that is likely to be. :(

We all know about some of "the characters" involved at the club either directly or indirectly.Tis like a Sopranos/Goodfellows meeting place at times...allegedly.

However,it is OUR club and we can only hope the club can rectify this situation:otherwise if we go down the tubes there may sadly be no one there to save us or we restart again from The Seaside Leagues, which would be a killer blow after rising from the depths to where we are now.

The reactions from fans of other teams is telling;very little sympathy and a lot of fannies wanting us to die.Quite a few fans of our neighbours next door saying this...short memories as was it not three times they went bust due to their own over spending-not forgetting League reconstruction saving them from relegation.

Not the time to point fingers just send out to everyone you know to come tomorrow if they can. If you can afford it pay someone in who wouldn't normally go. Twitter WhatsApp groups whatever you can do.

How could anyone running a football club be stupid enough to get stung by an online fraud? Who is responsible for it? We need answers!

Surprised anyone is using this news to have a pop at the Board. We're not the first football club to be defrauded and we won't be the last.

We run on a very tight budget: if the amount bandied around by BT Sport is remotely accurate, and can't be recovered, then we will be in grave difficulties. Ye Olde Hamiltonian seems to be the only one with a sense of the proportion of this. It's potentially disastrous.

Because it's the board who have been stupid enough to get conned? We need to find out what they did. Nobody is under any illusions that the club could go under. We need to know how and why our club has got into this situation.

None of us know what's happened, but you've decided that someone's been stupid!? There's a criminal investigation underway, so it's unlikely there will be any details released anytime soon. Survival of our club should be the main concern....
