In the paper today saying RoI are considering an U21 call up for Greg Docherty, he qualify's through his grand parents.

James McCarthy part 2 ??

Saying that I'm sure he comes from a Rangers supporting family and in fact is a rangers fan himself.. not sure if that'll come into it.

Greg would be well entitled to choose the Republic rather than wait on a Scotland call.
Brings back memories of the clueless Archie Knox continually blanking McCarthy.
Whilst on that subject, Strachan is a wee dick too.
Would he have given a full International cap to John McGinn if he played for Accies?
No chance.

And let's not forget that James McArthur was totally ignored by the Scotland Manager's when at Accies until he signed for a 'Bigger Club' and was 'suddenly discovered as a Midfielder for a full Scotland Squad cap. James must be pushing towards 30 caps now.

Come on now, how can Greg seriously expect to be picked ahead of Ross McCrorie of Rangers U20s?

Yes, how stupid of me to think that Greg, who has been with us for 12 seasons but has only played 90 games for us in the first team, could be considered at 20 years of age, sufficiently qualified for a call-up to the National U21's ahead of a Ranger's youth player who has played............ well, actually................... NO GAMES for their first team.

Hardly a wonder that Martin Canning is a puzzled man over this one, even though one is a midfielder and one a defender.

You do know I was being sarcastic, don't you?

To be fair, I should have highlighted an actual midfielder, like Michael Johnston of Celtic. He's only 18, meant to be very promising but he shouldn't be in ahead of a Premier regular who bossed John McGinn just the week before.

Greg's new Twitter profile picture is him in a Scotland (under 21, away) top.

@gregdocherty96 for those who know how to work Twitter.

Pretty clear message from the lad.

Also good to hear Canzo phoned up Scott Gemmill and asked why Docherty hasn't been picked. Would love to hear his excuse for that.

All I can say is if Gemmill was at tonight's game he'll be thinking Ireland are welcome to him.

Docherty was quiet in the first half, as if the speculation during the week had affected him and he seemed overawed.
Second half he was back to normal, tackling and driving forward. He had a good second half against a very good, well organised and composed Celtic team.
One of our better players in a game we struggled to get in to. I expected Celtic to have an eye on Tuesday but they were professional and didn't allow us time to assert ourselves.
We'll not face a better team, thankfully.

Namely Sevco.

It'd be good to wipe the smirk off Pedro's face by beating them...
