Pars v Accies

Postby TerracingTomas » Wed Jan 12, 2022 1:37 pm

With restrictions not to be lifted until Monday currently this is a tv option only at £12. Link here

Both Partick who are at home on Friday night BBC tv and Killie have requested the restrictions be lifted now to allow lower league teams this weekend to benefit immediately. Can’t see it but u never know. The Pars are looking really poor and our results against them to date have been favourable so with players back from Covid and tails up surely we can look for 3 points? Team line ups are a bit of a guessing game at the moment but I’m pretty confident Jamie Hamilton will still be with us

We started brightly and then it was all Pars and they were well worth a one nil lead at h/T. Our midfield non existent and the defence looking shaky. Second half we had a 20 minute spell pressurising them but never really threatened. Substitutions made no real difference. Nowhere near out of the woods. Can we sign some experience please no more projects or doing the old firm a favour.

Funny how we can never sign Steven Lawless. He's from Hamilton, used to stay in the new flats opposite Aldi on Wellhall Rosd, maybe still does. Was playing for Burton in the third tier a couple of years ago yet he prefers Dunfermline to us, that's if we were even in for him. Still, at least we've got Lewis Spence back in the bench...

Edited to add, I don't think we have any forward of the quality of Gavin Reilly, but he chose the mighty Greenock Morton.

Couldn't pick a single player that earned their money today. Lethargic, slow reactions, zero grit, looked like they couldnt give a shit what way the game went. As poor a performance as Talbot.

Result might be overturned by Nicola. I see the attendance on BBC was 556. Was the Maximum not 500?? :D

And we have a new Goalkeeper Dale Hilton! Dale Hilton? Mumbling in the Press Box? AAHH...
Dale Winton. Did he not die in 2018

Ayr had 4 players booked today. Next up in two weeks. Another six pointer at Hamilton. WhooppeeDo

Listened to Taylor on BBC Scotland post match interview. Bloody hell no wonder the players are so bad, he is so uninspiring. All he went on about is "lads have done well in past few months"

Morton getting a reaction from Dougie being in charge, think we could be back in the doo doo again unless we get our act together

On a "par" with Auchinleck as our worst performance of the season.

The worrying thing for me in these games and also going back to last season(Ross County home game/games after the split) was the lack of fight and desire by our youngsters.

No tracking back,no willingness to "do the dirty work" required in six pointer games against experienced jobbers,no desire to try to match the physicality of opponents and losing nearly every 50/50.

I worry if no further experience is recruited as these youngsters don't have the cojones their predecessors had in crunch games. If we go on a bad run and end up in a play off position, these kids won't have the fight to get us out of it.

Might be far-fetched, but I would try to get out of favour Alex Gogic back to the end of the season as we need an experienced, physical head in midfield to stop us being outmuscled against the sides around us.Scott Martin would ideally do this, but is too injury prone and the likes of Spence and Virtanen are not the answer.

To make matters worse,he would have loved to sign for Accies as his brother-in-law and some of his pals are big Accies fans.

He trained with us when Canning was the Manager but Canning declined to offer him a contract.

Saturday was terrible as others have said.
Virtanen, Hughes, Winter, Shiels, have absolutely nothing, Hilton slightly better than Fulton but neither are the answer.
As for L Smith think he needs a loan to lower league and time to strengthen in gym, all his early promise has gone, real shame.
Agree with others real relegation fight now, for me Easton must play if fit, no one talking on Saturday & need Martin back before it is too late.
We all know what signings we need but also know they wont happen, need to get this squad to somehow make 8th place.
Forgot to add in actually missing Moyo & Mullin now ;] ;]

Hang on, it was just the other week that folk were saying Shiels was MOTM at Querns. And before that Winter got a great winner at Inverness. Could it just be that these two are young and we should expect a little inconsistency?
